MONTHLY MEETINGS
Now for those that haven't been coming to the monthly meeting held every 3rd Saturday of the month, here is a little info you may not know about....we not only give you updates on all the events but we do a "ROLL OVER" drawing. For those that don't know what that is....every members name is put in a bag, a name is drawn at every monthly meeting, if your not there at the time of the drawing you loose out on a cash prize. We put cash in the kitty everytime someone is not present to collect it. We also have give aways. Gee wiz folks, it is just one Saturday out of the month and those meetings are so informative. For those that are new, come meet the gang. Our NEXT MONTHLY MEETING WILL BE ON APRIL 21ST, AT 9:00AM.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.

RIDES FROM THE NEAR PAST
TAKING THE LONG ROAD TO TOMBSTONE
Told by Jeanette Banta
Canadians love to ride long distances
Canadians love to ride long distances because to go anywhere around the province of British Columbia you need a “bagger” and a packed lunch. If there was a prize for furthest distance traveled to the Annual Tombstone Weekend Run, the Banta’s would surely win. It took us 850 miles to ride from Apache Junction to Tombstone. Having great riding weather forecast for Tombstone prompted us to leave early, on Wednesday, and go on a circle tour, keeping in mind our destination was Tombstone Friday afternoon. Our decision to ride scenic routes took us thru Fountain Hills, the Carefree Hwy and Wickenburg. The first night stay was Kingman on RT66. Next morning was on to Oatman to feed the burros. Next was RT95 thru Lake Havasu City, Parker along the Colorado River, Quartzite and finally Yuma for our second night stay. In just 2 days we logged 500 scenic miles. Friday’s ride was the big one we took I8 to Dateland and Gila Bend then RT85 to Ajo and Why and RT86 to Tucson. From Tucson on to RT10 an to RT80 and arrived in Tombstone at 5pm. With very sore butts. But hey it’s party time and what a great weekend it was!
Did we say Canadians love to ride or are we just plain crazy? Crazy?
Crazy George
Chapter Historian
Thank you to George and the Banta group for a great story.
IMPROMPTU RIDE
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28, 2007
Started out for Phil’s Filling Station Restaurant in Fountain Hills for breakfast and then on to Cyclefest located at West World of Scottsdale off of RT101 Loop.Road Captain Larry E. led the ride with Road Captain and Safety Officer AZ Dave and Road Captain Rob W. riding sweep. The group of 15 riders headed out to Ellsworth Rd. This ride was the last Wednesday ride for 4 riders who are leaving to go back up north for the summer. We wish the best to our fellow chapter members Dave, Jeanette, Carl and Jerry. Have a safe trip and see you next winter. After breakfast we took a group picture in Fountain Hills outside Phil’s Filling Station. Missing from the picture was John “Cat” whom has lead all the Wednesday rides. John had a previous engagement. Taking a picture without John “Cat” just didn’t seem right.
WE FOUND JOHN “Cat” at the AZBW booth and took a picture. Like I said, a Wednesday picture without John is not right. Thanks John.
The group left Fountain Hills and headed on Shea Blvd to Cyclefest, AZBW07 Central. Free covered, secured parking for bikes. Cost to get in was $15.00 unless you had a pass. A great day for a ride, sunny, a little chilly, it was leather weather. There wasn’t much happening at Cyclefest yet, later in the evening 38 Special was performing on stage.
