Motorcycle Electrical Secret by Tracy Martin

If you have ever watched a seasoned technician with electronics savvy diagnose an electrical problem on your bike they make it look easy. And usually it is, at least for the electrically experienced. You may wonder how did he do that so quickly? There is a little secret that will allow you to easily repeat the skills needed to diagnose a starter motor that goes click or dim headlight or an engine that has no spark, as well as finding and fixing any number of mysterious electrical problems. The secret is practice.

Most people understand the need for practice, especially when it comes to sports; playing baseball, riding motorcycles, shooting pool, bowling--any thing requiring a specific skill set goes a lot smoother with some experience. If you haven't picked up a baseball bat in a year and it's your turn at bat, there's a good chance you'll strike out. As everyone knows, a little practice before the game goes a long way towards success.

Likewise, the day your motorcycle has an electrical problem shouldn't also be the first time you switch on your new digital voltmeter. Practicing the application of basic electrical knowledge, like voltage drop testing and checking for a bad ground wire on a circuit that is operating incorrectly makes it allot easier to find a problem when the prince of darkness has paid your motorcycle's electrical system a visit. Practice will give you a better than average chance of hitting the ball the first time up (electrically speaking) when something goes wrong with your bike.

The Bible of Motorcycle Electrical Systems!

Motorcycle Electrical Systems Troubleshooting and Repair by Tracy A. Martin is available now. This softbound, full color, 159 page book explains the principles behind 12 and 6-volt motorcycle electrical systems.

Electrical theory is kept to a minimum as the author uses a “Hot-Rod” version of Ohms Law and focuses on a more practical, hands-on approach to explaining an otherwise complex subject. Electrical testing tools are discussed including digital multi-meters, test lights, logic probes, short finders and others.

Motorcycle ignition and charging systems are explained in detail along with a chapter on how to actually read wring diagrams that includes hands-on exercises. Take a virtual ride on-board an ECU (electronic control unit) to find out how electronic fuel injection operates.

The chapter on electrical troubleshooting guides the reader through the steps to logically approach, and solve common motorcycle electrical problems. The information contained in this new book serves as an additional “electrical” tool for both Do-It-Yourself and professional technicians.

The Ultimate Garage/Race Day Cooler!
The 22-gallon Port-A-Cool is the ultimate swamp cooler for your garage, the local racetrack, horse stable or any indoor or outdoor event! Nothing at Home Depot, Costco or anywhere else even comes close to this Made-in-the-USA power-cooler. Designed for use when air conditioning is cost prohibitive, impractical, or unavailable. It operates by plugging in to a standard electrical outlet. A 22-gallon water tank is built in and lasts for 4-10 hours without refilling depending on temperature and fan speed. As ambient air is pulled through the water-soaked Kuul pads, cold air is released through the fan. The fan features a trick one-piece polyethylene plastic housing and quiet-running, non-corrosive fan blades. These are the same units used by our Total Control Training Sites in SoCal and Phoenix, AZ during the 110+ degree summer months and must be experienced to be believed. They can reduce the ambient air 20-30 degrees making hot days cool and otherwise swealtering conditions bearable. As a bonus for our newsletter subscribers, this month only we are offering the incomparable 22-gallon Port-A-Cool for only $1049! That's a full $446 off our regular price. Don't wait on this one.

Hi Folks,
We are proud to announced T3RG as our newest Total Control location in Denver, Colorado. 2 class dates have been added in Colorado which are limited to 12 students each. I will be personally teaching the May 11 and June 22 events. On May 12, Foothills BMW in Lakewood, CO will be hosting a FREE Total Control Seminar in the morning. More information is available by calling 303-202-1400.

I know this is short notice, but there is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for civilians to take a Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic at the famed Fort Knox in Kentucky. We are opening 5 spots on Friday, April 27 for a special class on base.

Finally some good news for riders in the New England area! We have classes in Cornish, Maine and Plain Fields, Connecticut which I will also be teaching. Class size is limited and first come, first served.

This month's newsletter features a cool new motorcycle electrical system book and motorcycle electrical tip by ARC instructor Tracy Martin.

We are now a dealer for Condor bike stands and Port-A-Cool evaporative coolers. Many of you have probably seen us using these products at our Clinics and it just made sense to start carrying them.

We also have several new dates up for our Total Control Advanced Riding Clinics around the country so check your local listings. Other than private classes, we will not be holding any more regular events in CA until September. May will be the last AZ ARC until September as well. July and August are the best bets for private lessons and classes as the rest of the year is booking up very fast. If you're interested in one call met at 760-220-5045 to check availability.
