7th Annual Santa Clara Valley Peace Officers Memorial Run

The Seventh Annual Santa Clara Valley Peace Officers Memorial Run will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007. The SJPD Drill Team will perform before the run. "Hog Wild" will perform at Bolado Park.

The pre-event party will be held at the SJPOA hall - 1151 N. 4th St. on May 18.

The Santa Clara Valley Peace Officers Memorial Run organization sponsors a charitable fundraising motor ride event that honors peace officers who have sacrificed their lives while in the line of duty, serving the citizens of Santa Clara County.

Proceeds from the event provide support to the children and spouses of those officers who have fallen in the line of duty. In addition, scholarships for deserving high school students in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties are awarded in honor and memory of those officers.

The Memorial Run has fast become one of the largest motorcycle events in the Bay Area. The idea was conceived in June 2000, and was organized by dedicated police personnel who volunteered their time. This first run was held on May 19, 2001, with approximately 800 bikes participating. The 2002 event had more than 1500 motorcycles, and, in 2003 and 2004, the number doubled to more than 3000 bikes. The Memorial Run is still organized and operated entirely by volunteer police officers and non-sworn personnel.

2007 Harley’s Heroes Tour
Rolls Into the Bay Area on May 26th

America Is The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Harley’s Heroes Honors the Men and Women Who Made it That Way.

Thanks to a generous $1 million pledge from the Harley-Davidson Foundation, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Offices is providing the Harley’s Heroes Tour. The Tour will provide benefit assistance to veterans of all ages. On Saturday, May 26th, between the hours of 10:00am and 6:00pm,

San Jose Harley-Davidson is hosting the first tour stop for Harley’s Heroes.

The Memorial Day weekend tour stop is an exclusive for the entire Bay Area and will only be at San Jose Harley-Davidson. The mission of the Harley’s Heroes Tour is to provide access to benefits for all veterans and show appreciation for their service and sacrifice to our country. While on Tour, DAV’s Mobile Service Offices will provide benefit counseling to those veterans who suffer from service-connected injuries but may never have filed a claim for benefits or have found it difficult working with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The DAV Mobile Service Office is emblazoned with Harley’s Heroes graphics so Harley riders can easily identify and locate it. The DAV Mobile Service Office will be located in the parking lot of San Jose Harley-Davidson. The Mobile Service Office is staffed by highly trained DAV National Service Officers, all of them wartime-disabled veterans.

Stop in May 26th and show your support for our veterans who sered their country and us with pride and dignity.

SPRING IS CHECK YOUR HELMET TIME!

How often should a helmet be replaced and how snug should it really fit? These are two key questions that many enthusiasts regularly ask. Spring is the time to "Check Your Helmet" Month and MotorClothes specialists at San Jose Harley-Davidson are available to answer these questions and others regarding helmet fit, function, care and replacement. As the riding season ramps up, it is important to ensure a helmet is ready for the rides ahead. During Spring and throughout the year, we encourage riders to visit our shop for personalized helmet fitment advice and a free helmet check. Based on helmet manufacturer and SNELL Memorial Foundation recommendations, helmets should be replaced every three to five years, depending on use and wear. This info and more is available at our dealership. San Jose Harley-Davidson carries a range of helmet styles including Half, Three-Quarter, Full-Face and Modular helmets to meet your needs. In addition to learning about styles, materials, fit, and more, we are trying to make it easier for riders to manage the lifecycle of their helmets with the use of Purchased-On Date Stickers. Starting this Spring, we are adhering Purchased-On Date Stickers at the time of purchase on the inside of helmets under the comfort liner. This provides our customers with an accurate date of purchase and a useful reminder for when to replace their helmets. Stop by and feel good about your helmet.
