SAFETY TIP
Summer is one of the most awesome times of the year for riders. The days are longer and the weather is usually great. However, there are concerns that need to be addressed to keep your riding safe all season long.
The longer days also means more sunlight and more heat which in turn means a greater chance of DEHYDRATION!
Dehydration is a real concern for riders or all levels. Dehydration can come from exposure to direct sun, higher temperatures and higher levels of humidity. The moisture in our body leaves naturally through everyday breathing and sweating. All of these can come back to haunt us as we ride longer and harder during the summer season.
Some symptoms include dizziness, mental fuzziness, confusion, shallow breathing, cramps, low blood pressure and one of the worse for a rider...slow reaction times. Another clue of dehydration can be found in your urine. If it has a strong odor and is a brighter yellow in color, then you are probably dehydrated.
There are several things that can be done to combat dehydration. First, drink plenty of water. Notice I say water, NOT just liquids. Your body needs a 1/2 ounce of water for every pound you weigh. For example, a 175lb rider needs 87.5 ozs. per day.
While riding, you have several options to help fight dehydration. Obviously, you can carry bottled water with you and stop regularly to drink and get out of the sun. You can also wear a lightweight, light colored jacket to help by preventing the sun and the wind from drying out your skin. Other products on the market include hydration packs that can be worn on your back like a backpack.
Whatever you decide to do, just remember to think ahead and be safe! (compiled with info from BellaOnline)

2007 Kawasaki Ninja® ZX™-10R

$9,999.00, KAWASAKI’S 2007 NINJA® ZX™-10R COMBINES AWESOME POWER WITH AGILITY AND GRACE.

Racetrack performance with real-world stability.

It didn’t take long for Kawasaki’s original Ninja® ZX™-10R sportbike to earn a reputation for dominating horsepower and excellent handling. The second generation ZX-10R continues that domination, featuring a racetrack-focused chassis and more horsepower than any other open-class supersport. Street riders and backroad enthusiasts will also appreciate the ZX-10R’s solid stability and predictable handling, thanks to its superb engineering.

With excellent mid-range power and a screaming top-end, the ZX-10R’s ability to accelerate out of corners is aided by its linear power delivery and enhanced traction provided by its long swingarm. This makes it easier for riders to capitalize on the ZX-10R’s horsepower advantage.

Designed for the rider who feels at home in racing leathers, the ZX-10R delivers unmatched track performance. A short wheelbase coupled with a long swingarm gives the bike outstanding maneuverability and excellent rear wheel traction. Even more to the liking of experienced racers, the Ninja’s concave tank top and the relationship between pegs, handlebar and seat only magnifies its appropriateness for the track.
