Dealership News for 2008
I just returned from the Harley-Davidson 2008 Dealer Show where Harley introduced three new models and some great changes to existing bikes. The three new models include the FXDF Fat Bob Dyna, Softail Rocker, and the Rocker C. While all three motorcycles are great additions to the Harley lineup, the two Rockers offer the most unique changes. The Rockers come with a 240 rear tire and a rear fender attached directly to the swing arm. The new bikes won’t be available until September, but you can see them on Harley-Davison’s website. (www.h-d.com)

While there were some changes to all models, the most significant were to the touring family with the addition of a six gallon tank, the availability of cruise control, and ABS brakes as factory options. As 2008 is the 105th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson, a big celebration is planned for August in Milwaukee to coincide with the opening of the Harley-Davidson Museum. We will have only a limited number of 105th Anniversary motorcycles in the coming model year with the copper and black paint scheme along with the 105th anniversary insignia.

Please come by and see the new 2008 models and check out some great deals on remaining 2007 models in stock.

Thoughts from Marty Davis
While attending the dealer show in July for the release of the 2008 model year Walt McKinley, Parts Manager at Big Swamp Harley-Davidson, and me, Marty Davis, Parts Manager at Chattahoochee Harley-Davidson were excited and pleased to see that Harley-Davidson is listening.

Harley is listening to customers and dealership employees by making changes to the 2008 models which are eye appealing, and functional.

Walt and I agreed on a few of the best upgrades and changes. For riders who want to dress up their bike, Harley produced an extended line of blacked-out accessories. Harley has also increased the variety of braided cables available in extended lengths, increasing the look of Harley-Davidson parts in handlebar applications. In addition, the copper and black color combination Harley chose for special edition 105th anniversary bikes is impressive.

Harley took touring bikes a big step forward in the functionality. The touring family now has Brembro brakes for better stopping power. Also new are a six gallon fuel tank for increased fuel capacity, and a pulley dampening system for smoother acceleration. Touring bikes no longer have throttle and idle cables, as they are now replaced by an electronic throttle control.

Harley also introduced the radical Rocker Softail. At first glance, the bike has a solo seat. Upon further inspection, the seat lifts, the rack for the pillion unfolds, revealing the pillion pad in a compartment of the seat. This gives the Rocker a solo look, with passenger capability.

These are just a few of the highlights from the 2008 dealer show that Walt and I really liked. Be sure to come by Big Swamp and Chattahoochee Harley-Davidson to see the new 2008 models and parts and accessory upgrades.
Marty Davis.
