BMW
R1200S
CONTNUES
ON
THE
PODIUM
IN
THE
DOUBLE
HEADER
MRA
SUPERTWINS
GTO
HELD
IN
PUEBLO,
CO
The
#616
BMW
R1200S
piloted
by
Brad
Hendry
finished
the
double
header
weekend
with
two
second
positions
at
the
MRA
(Motorcycle
Racing
Association)
road
races
over
the
Labor
Day
weekend
held
at
the
Pueblo
Motorsports
track
complex
in
Pueblo
Colorado.
This
moved
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S
into
the
overall
second
point’s
position
in
the
MRA
Supertwins
GTO
competition.
The
7th
MRA
Supertwins
GTO
race
of
the
season
saw
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S,
starting
from
pole
position,
into
second
position
at
turn
1
just
trailing
Jon
Glaefke
who
had
chosen
to
ride
his
superbiked
Suzuki
TL
1000.
On
the
very
long
front
straight
and
in
the
long
back
straight
of
the
Pueblo
race
track,
the
higher
horsepowered
TL
1000
pulled
from
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S,
while
the
Bimmer
played
catch
up
to
the
Suzuki
in
the
infield.
The
BMW
and
TL
1000
pulled
away
from
the
rest
of
the
field
of
Ducati’s,
Aprilia
Mille
and
Suzuki’s
and
essentially
held
the
same
positions
until
the
end
of
the
race.
“Jon
kept
pulling
away
from
me
on
the
long
straights
and
I
kept
closing
the
gap
in
the
in-field”
said
Hendry.
“However,
I
could
not
get
close
enough
to
force
a
pass”.
The
8th
Supertwins
GTO
race
was
essentially
a
very
exciting
replay
of
the
race
on
Sunday,
with
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S,
in
every
lap,
right
on
the
tale
of
the
Glaefke
TL
1000
as
they
came
into
the
final
turn
before
the
long
front
straight,
then
to
be
gapped
on
the
front
straight
and
to
catch
up
in
the
infield.
In
the
final
lap
onto
the
front
straight
(just
before
the
finish)
Glaefke
bobbled
out
of
the
final
turn
and
the
R1200S
caught
up
next
to
the
big
twin
but
horsepower
won
the
drag
race
to
the
finish
and
the
R1200S
finished
second.
With
these
two
2nd
place
podiums,
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S
has
now
moved
into
2nd
place
in
the
point’s
race.
Who-ever
wins
the
last
event
on
Sept
23rd
will
win
the
overall
MRA
Supertwins
GTO
Championship.
In
the
Heavyweight
Supersport
class
the
BMW
R1200S
started
from
third
position
but
had
a
very
poor
start
and
fell
into
7th
position
at
the
first
turn.
After
some
very
tough
dueling
the
R1200S
managed
to
pull
into
6th
but
could
not
improve
on
this
position.
This
moved
the
R1200S
into
an
overall
5th
position
in
the
Heavyweight
Supersport
Championship.
On
the
Monday
the
BMW
Xplor.com
R1200S
had
a
great
start
and
was
in
6th
position
into
the
first
turn.
After
a
great
turn
10
pass
on
a
Suzuki
600,
the
Bimmer
set
sail
after
the
GSXR
600
of
Crash
Lowe
and
passed
him
in
the
infield.
The
next
target
was
a
Suzuki
600
piloted
by
Shannon
Moham,
and
after
some
tough
dueling
in
the
in-field
and
a
great
drive
through
turn
10,
the
Bimmer
moved
into
3rd
position
and
held
this
to
the
end
of
the
race.
The
BMW
R1200S
now
moves
back
into
third
position
in
overall
points
in
the
heavyweight
Supersport
class
trailing
a
Yamaha
R6
and
GSXR
750
and
just
ahead
of
another
GSXR
600.
