The Director's Minute

Dear LOTO Chapter Members,

I was very surprised, but yet very pleased to see the large turn out for our second meeting. I heard many positive comments about the meeting at Stocktons, therefore our next meeting will be changed to a location to afford us the opportunity to make it a dinner meeting. That meeting will be held on November 20, 2007 and as soon as the location has been determined I will notify you.
The support and interest that you as a membership show in our meetings is evidence of the value that this Chapter is to you. Remember to tell a friend about our Chapter and invite them to join our family. A reminder, that if they join by the last day of December, they will become a Charter Member of the Chapter. With your continued support, I believe this Chapter has great potential of growth.
My goal is to have our actual meetings held to an hour in length to allow everyone time to visit and take the opportunity to have individual questions answered. My goal is to address only the upcoming month’s activities on the agenda. Your help and support will be appreciated with the upcoming busy schedule. So between now and then, keep the sunny side up, ride safe and have fun!!!!

Assistant Director's Minute
Hello, I am really planning on making a meeting. I really wanted to meet with you and give you some of my insight about our chapter and what we have in mind for next year. I as well want to inform you of some of the many benefits of being a H.O.G. member that you may not be aware of. I did read the minutes from the meeting and again, what a turn out. It is a great feeling to see about half of the membership show up for the business meetings. I am really looking forward to our getting together for future chapter rides and activities.

I really did not know the magnitude of the family behind the Harley Owners Group until this past week. It really warmed Jill and my heart that so many of our Harley Family supported us in the loss of our son, Jason. It is hard to put into words the warmth that filled me during his funeral services. I cannot convey enough the gratitude that we have for your support during these difficult times. Your generous donations in the name of our son to the Cedar Ridge Treatment Center will help others in need as well. I know that Jason would have greatly appreciated your support of this program.

We do not have a lot on our calendar between now and the next meeting. I hope to be able to join you on the Cold Turkey ride on the 17th of November. Maybe all the leaves will not have fallen from the trees and we can enjoy some good nature views. Now is the time to start making preparation for the Christmas Party. Last year was a great time. I do not know anyone that attended that did not have a great time. The food and activities were great. You can sign up for the event by contacting any of the officers or stopping by the shop and seeing me. If you want to reserve a room, the details are in the minutes from the meeting. Jill and I will be staying in the room next to our “hospitality” room that will be used for the before and after party, party. Look forward to seeing you there. Until next time, keep the shinny side up.

Secretary's Corner
The October monthly meeting was held at Stockton’s restaurant on the 16th of October. There were 42 members and 6 guests attending.
The meeting was called to order by Gary Cuendet, Director
The Secretaries report was presented as in the newsletter and a motion was made and seconded to accept the report. Motion passed with no questions.
Gary read the Treasurers report as of October 16th. Starting balance of $776.05 with deposits of $783.75 for a total of $1559.80. Expenses incurred for the month were $69.68 leaving a balance of $1490.12.
Allen Crawley gave the Safety report. He has a list of the safe riding courses with locations; if anyone needs them they can contact him. The deer are moving everywhere so be extra careful. He does have information on a new deer whistle. If anyone is interest please see him.
Debi Fleming described the new chapter t-shirts and passed around a sign up sheet for those interested to mark their sizes and numbers wanted. The Charter Membership program was explained and everyone is encouraged to purchase the patches at the lake store.
Susie Cuendet gave the Ladies of Harley report. Pictures with Santa will be on December 15th from 11am to 2pm. Volunteers are needed for Mrs Santa and Santa’s helpers. There will be a bake during the same time and volunteers are needed to help with that also. Baked items such as cookies, brownies, candy, etc are needed and they do not need to be homemade if that is easier. A sign up sheet was set out at the end of the meeting.
Bill Lasater stated that the Cold Turkey ride will be November 17th at 11am leaving from the Lake dealership. The route will be determined depending on the temperature and distance.
Bill and Gary C. will begin work on a New Years day ride with details to follow. Road Captains are needed. We currently have 5 or 6 people identified who are willing to help. We can use others so that we have backups when needed. Some of the Road Captain responsibilities are:

·Assists in planning routes
·Helps educate members on riding techniques
·Informs members on hand signals used on rides
·Assists in obtaining signed release forms for chapter rides
·Acts as a guide for organized chapter rides

We now have over 100 members in our Chapter. Debi requested that anyone who is not receiving the newsletter by email and has an email address please see her to make sure our records are correct. It saves the chapter money and is a lot less time consuming to send by email.
Shane Dunlevy has resigned as assistant activities officer. His work schedule is preventing him from spending the time necessary for the position. We want to thank him for all the help he has provided in the past. We are looking for volunteers to fill this position so if you are interested contact Ed Dobson. Duties include organizing volunteers for functions, arranging for meal locations on rides. Ideas are needed for winter functions when the weather is too bad to ride. If you have any ideas see Ed D. Everyone is invited to the LOH bowling night sponsored by the Lebanon Chapter. It will be at 7pm on November 3rd in Lebanon. The ride to Hermann was cancelled due to weather but a group went Rockaway Beach instead. The 50/50 rule was explained but riders are still able to ride even though it is not a Chapter sponsored event. A sign up sheet was started for the Cold Turkey ride on November 17th for those interested. A sheet was also started for those who will be attending the Christmas party on December 15th at 7pm. The location will be Port Arrowhead Resort on business 54 in Lake Ozark. The cost is $25 per person and discounted rooms are available for $59 a night. Room reservations need to be made by November 15th and the discount code is OFHO1215 and the number to call is 1-800-532-3575. Reminder that the Moonlight Madness sale is going on at the lake store from 7pm to 11pm on the 20th of October. Ed D. is available to lead a day ride on November 7th, 14th, and the 21st . If anyone is interested they can contact him.
A copy of the Newsletter will be located on the activities counter by the Service Department in the Lake Store for those who might need an alternate way to view the report.
Reminder that we still need pictures and stories for the yearbook. Debi is not the only photographer. We are all urged to take pictures.
Gary C. took a vote on whether people wanted a dinner meeting or a meeting at a hall location. It was overwhelming approved for dinner meetings. May need to find larger location that is quieter.
Gary C. covered results of survey with group ( see attached) and stated that another survey will be used in the future. We will be using the results to plan our activities so please fill them out when you receive them.
The 50-50 prize was won by Sue Jones
The door prizes were won by Debbie Crawley, Dan Weaver, and Mike Eygabroad.
