As everybody knows, the new 2008 Touring Models are here. What everybody doesn’t know is that there has been many changes to the bike, both to improve the looks and the handling.

The first item I would like to talk about is the Isolated Drive System Sprocket Kit (PN#40287-07, retail $305.00).

Lets start out with WOW! What a difference in the feel of the bike. With a balanced 96” engine and a 6-speed tranny, the only logical area to improve is the sprocket – and they did!!! What this product does in fact is reduce the amount of noise and vibration by acting like a cushion, absorbing the power pulses from the engine.

Enough of the tech talk, this is a two piece sprocket that has six (6) rubber cushions designed to absorb the torque pulses, like a big dampner. For you gals and guys who own a 07’ touring H-D, and your tired of hearing that whine between 5th and 6th gear…here is the answer!

Well, that’s all for this month, and remember, always make sure your bike is properly warmed up and an oil change is a cheap form of insurance.

Introduced on the '08 Touring models, the Isolated Drive System improves rider comfort and ride quality by dampening the mechanical noise and vibration caused by the engine's torque pulses. The rubber compensation elements in the sprocket act like a cushion, absorbing the power pulses from the engine. With the IDS installed, the motorcycle feels more refined, and is quieter while accelerating, shifting and cruising. Kit includes sprocket, compensator bowl, and installation hardware.

Fits '07 Touring (except Japanese) models equipped with Original Equipment and Harley-Davidson® accessory wheels. Will not fit with 80-Spoke Laced Wheel P/N 42954-04, Polished Spun Aluminum Disc Wheel P/N 43760-03 or Slotted Six Spoke Wheel P/N 43932-02 (chrome) or 43933-02 (black).
