Not that we haven’t always been changing. It seems almost every single day delivers the challenge of new issues and problems, born of the insanely accelerated rate of speed that technology is now changing the world. It’s like we’re all living in a birthing room, and we can’t catch the newborn ideas and their byproducts fast enough. Much less learn them fast enough. (And then relearn whatever system just replaced the last one.) There are good problems, and there are bad problems. As hard as it is, at least our change is born of the good problems of rapid growth, what any business aspires to have. But growing pains can kill if not properly treated. And nowadays, you don’t even have to suffer these normal problems for your business to fail. In this new world, you have to change or die. As owners, Dave and I always cared about the “important” aspects of running the shop: the best customer service possible, selling top quality products, building and servicing machines properly, keeping prices competitive, being friendly, having fun. Our plates were always full, and we never seemed to have time to install an “infrastructure.” (Not to mention boring.) So, when our growth exceeded our personal control, a consultant told us we not only had to suffer the tedium of building an infrastructure, but our staff had to endure the implementation of standard operating procedures, as well. And, of course, this all comes with a new point of sale computer system. So, please excuse our slightly visible transition. We have some excellent heads determined to make everything evolve as smoothly as possible. And don’t worry. Personal customer service will always be our number one priority, and your phone calls are so important to us, we still have actual human beings answering them. Just bear with us, as we learn to follow our own rules. Matt Dost Service Manager Matt Dost started working in the service department last spring as service writer and Assistant Service Manager. Following some changes, he has now moved into the Service Manager position, a job he is undertaking with diligence.
