The Director's Minute
Dear Chapter Members

While writing this to you it still looks like winter is still staring its ugly head at us. If you are like Susie and I Cabin Fever is upon us. But between now and the next Chapter meeting we will have some opportunities to get some warm weather and dry roads to take out are bikes and put on some miles. Sunshine and warmth are two things we need to get us all back into the saddle of our bikes.
I was so happy to see so many of you at the last meeting. I know we are starting to run out of room, but did talk to the owner and believe with a few adjustments they can still accommodate our group. As we start into the riding season don’t forget to check over your bike for those maintenance items and get serviced and prepared for the year. So many times we tend to forget these items and when the weather gets nice the bike could be in the shop instead of the road.
Debi Fleming brought up a topic at the last meeting which is important for you all as Chapter Members. Volunteering is a great time to not only help out, but is also a time to learn a little about each other and our daily lives. We ride our bikes together, but don’t always get a chance to sit and talk or learn about each other. Volunteering gives us that chance to grow as a chapter with each other and as I call it ‘’Bonding”. If you volunteer as a Road Captain or any other volunteer for a group activity, it is appreciated by all.
We will have the flyers out to you all at the next Chapter Meeting for the Scavenger Hunt. I am looking forward to you all attending the ride and having fun.
So between now and the next meeting may you and your family be warm and safe, and maybe we can get are bikes out a few days and warm up the pavement for the upcoming year to ‘’Ride and have Fun”!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary E. Cuendet
Director

Assistant Director's Minute
Hello.

How is the cabin fever going? You must have it because I am really feeling it. I think some of you passed it on to me at the last meeting. Thanks, I really could have done without it. The weather man/woman is actually making me think that good weather may just be weeks away. I can only hope so. I really need to get my hair into the wind.
Bill and I mentioned last meeting that we need some road captains. We did get one more volunteer but we can use a few more. I guess in order to get folks to be a road captain, they may want to know what a road captain is responsible for. We will have training on it coming up March 9. In a nut shell, the basics of road captain duties include but are not limited to choosing a route to a location and then guiding a group to that location. We would like to have three road captains on each group ride, one to lead, one in the middle (becomes the lead if the group gets broken up), and one in trail. If you are interested in helping out, let Bill or myself know. If you do not make the training, we can do it afterward on an individual basis.
If you are planning on attending the Missouri State H.O.G. Rally, you may want to start thinking about your planning. The rally will be in Springfield, Missouri, September 5-6, 2008. If you need room reservations, you may want to make them soon. Brian Black blocked some rooms from the Ozark Mountain Chapter of Lebanon. If you want a room at the host hotel, you may want to contact him. Registration for the rally should be open by April 1st. A post card should be sent to those that attended last years rally as a reminder. This year, five Early Bird pre-registrations will be selected to receive a valuable prize. Please register as early as possible to possibly get selected.
Well, better close for now. Be safe out there. Watch for all the gravel and crap on the roads, new pot holes, animals, drivers’ not watching for bikes, etc.

Assistant Director
