Annual Honda World Dune Ride & BBQ
Last Sunday was a treat for our staff, friends and family. We went to Little Sahara for our Annual Dune Ride and BBQ. Alex, our Parts Manager and Trevor Perry, our General Manager kindly BBQ'd over 150 burgers for hungry dune riders. The event began with a snow storm that morning in Salt Lake City and a caravan of devoted Honda World employees heading toward Little Sahara recreation area.

"By the time we got everything set up and the BBQ's going, the weather was warmer, but still pretty windy," stated Lynn. "I think the turn out was a little less than last year, but the weather wasn't really cooperating with our plan."

All in all, everyone had a great time and the cheeseburgers warmed the bellies of many.

"I think next year, we are going to look at having the Dune Ride and BBQ a little later in the season. Perhaps the second week in April. We want everyone to come and play with us, and we also want better weather too," said Trevor after the BBQ's were cooling off.

A special thanks goes out to all of our employees that participated in this event. Great job!

U.S. Transportation Secretary pushes helmet-use laws.
U.S. Transportation Secretary pushes helmet-use laws. March 19, 2008

US - U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters recently reaffirmed her desire to lobby states for mandatory helmet-use laws in testimony before the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee Transportation Subcommittee, according to a statement March 12 from the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). Peters’ testimony follows letters she sent in February to U.S. House and Senate leaders urging Congress to allow states to divert federal money away from motorcycle safety training and awareness programs and instead push for mandated helmet use.

Under federal law, the U.S. Transportation Department is barred from lobbying for or against specific state laws.

“I support giving the information to states so that they can act on those laws,” Peters testified. “And I certainly have made myself available to a number of states, and, in fact, have called governors when I see substantial increases in the number of motorcycle deaths in a state, especially a state that has repealed a helmet law.”

The AMA opposes Peters’ push to divert the funds from motorcycle safety training.
