NEED A PIG

The planning committee for the "Ryder's Ride" is looking for someone who could donate a pig for a pig roast in August. If you have any information that could help, please call Paula at Cycle Connection.

The Ryder's Ride is to raise money for Jean Davidson (granddaughter of one of the four founder's of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles) to promote her "Yell and Tell" program to help save children's lives. Jean's 4 year old grandson, Ryder, drowned in a water filled ditch. There was an 8 year old with him but he was scared and did not yell for help.

Jean has a program that teaches kids to See It, Feel It, Yell It, Tell It. The money raised from the Ryder's Ride will be given to Jean for any pamplets, printing, and other needs necessary to help her with her mission to save children's lives.

MILES TO RIDE

Our Chapter is having a milege contest from now till the end of the year with both male and female winner's. Call or take your mileage at the present time to Paula at Cycle Connection as soon as possible. Winner's will be announced at the Christmas Party in December.

Cycle Connection Hours

SAFETY MESSAGE

USE YOUR MIRRORS

When you come to a stop at a signal or stop sign, you should always keep your bike in gear, and you should always be watching your mirrors for idiots that do not look like they are going to stop. Unlike in a car where you may not be able to move out of the way, on a motorcycle you can real quickly give it some gas, let the clutch out and move if you have to.

Always leave yourself an out when you are stopped. Plan on some idiot rear ending you and plan your out; Every time you Stop! Do not be lazy. After a while this process will become second nature.

You must be able to see behind you on both sides. Your mirrors can save your life. I myself have purchased a pair of blind spot mirrors that stick to my factory mirrors. Cost me a couple of bucks and can be found at any automotive store.

Remember, cars cannot see us like they would if we were in a car. We must act like we are invisible to cars.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WARM UP

The month of March we met at Dusty's for dinner on Wednesday night. In April we will meet at Quincy Magoo's, the old J-Town North, at Stone's Corner at 6 p.m.

PIECE OF THE PIE

Six contestants vied for the "Piece of the Pie" Contest. Jars were placed at Cycle Connection with each person's picture on the jar. Money was collected by friends and foes. The top two money collector's won a PIE IN THE FACE. Greg Short and Rick Cicero were the winning pair. An auction took place and the person bidding the highest amount of money won the honor or throwing the pies. Steve Mounce and Paula Boyd showed their pie throwing skill and how to properly rub it in the face. Thank you Paula, Rick, Greg, Larry, Bob, and Kelly for a really fun time and memorable event. Even the Easter Bunny enjoyed it. $180 was raised for the Hardship Fund.

ROAD CAPTAINS

Each Road Captain has a bright orange bandana. These will be worn around the neck or on their mirrors on group rides. The Head Road Captain, Butch Scott, will lead most rides with road captain's spread out in the group and a tail feather. These are your road captains. Bob Lupini, Mike Boyd, Joe Purinton, Bob Ballard, Rod Brewer, Ken Black, Doug Douthitt, Bill Boyd, Bob Frost, Jerry Hirsch, Keith and Marcy Morris, Dave Howard, Steve Mounce, and Larry Jones. If you are interested in being a road captain, please notify Butch Scott at hdthunder2000@gmail.com or talk to him at the April meeting. If you have a problem on any group ride, one of these guys will help you and each will be able to lead if the group gets split up by traffic. On the long or overnight rides, each road captain will have a map of the route.
