New experienced technicians find a home at Spicer's

Jason Shamel was delighted to get the call from Spicer’s. “After I heard that Spicer’s took over the Bennington pontoon and Yamaha Outboard lines, I was hoping they would call,” states Jason. “I really enjoyed working with the folks that used to come in, and I really know their boats inside and out,” continues Jason.

Only a hand full of people in the country are Yamaha Master Certified and Jason is finishing his training this summer. “I’m also looking forward to getting into those nice Mercury motors also. I have completed the Mercury training and am excited to learn more,” says Jason.

Spicer’s also welcomes Kelly Winslow to the service team. “Kelly has just completed the Recreational Engine Technical Training at Kirkland and Graduated with a 3.9,” states Bob Nicholson, Service Manager. “Kelly brings a lot to the table,” continues Bob, “he is extremely versatile in PWC, snowmobile and ATV’s, and has been in the marine/recreational business since 2000.”

“I love it here,” states Kelly, “the team felling and attention to detail really makes it a great place to work.”

Yamaha Outboards will also be a welcome edition to the Spicer family. Yamaha Outboards have been just recently ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Four-Stroke Outboard Engines” in the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Marine Engine Competitive Information Study. This is the fifth time Yamaha Outboards has been recognized in J.D. Power and Associates studies, and the announcement comes on the heels of Yamaha Outboard winning its sixth consecutive Customer Satisfaction Index (C.S.I.) from the National Marine Manufacturing Association last fall.

“Adding the Yamaha Outboard line together with our Mercury outboards really gives our customers a better choice to power their boat,” says Bill Kerns, General Sales Manager of Spicer’s Boat City. “Whether it is the raw muscle of a Mercury Optimax or the quiet cruising of the 4 stroke Yamaha, I’m sure we have the perfect motor for every application.”

Spicer’s Boat City was recently awarded with a “Top Ten” dealer award for SmokerCraft and a “Top Dealer” award for Premier Pontoons.

During a recent visit to Spicer's Boat City, Jim Edwards, of Five Star Solutions has extended Spicer's Marine Industry Five Star Certification. "Spicer's is a great business. We've cited them nationally for best practices. They've really earned this certification,” says Jim. Spicer's is the only area business to pass the Marine Industry Five Star Certification standards.

"We're proud of this certification," states Phillip. "We put in place new processes, extensive employee training, monitoring of customer satisfaction, upgrades to our facility, and much more. It's made us better for our customers and much more efficient."
