Group
Riding
Safety
Tips
*
Split
large
groups
into
smaller
groups.
*
When
in
a
tight
curve,
the
rider
on
the
outside
of
the
curve
is
required
to
give
room
to
the
rider
on
the
inside,
in
case
the
curve
is
too
tight
to
negotiate
at
that
speed
without
excessive
crowding.
*
Use
the
buddy
system
when
riding
with
a
group.
If
your
buddy
must
pull
out
of
the
group,
pull
off
the
road
with
him
or
her.
*
Know
the
stopping
power
of
your
motorcycle.
Seventy
percent
of
the
stopping
power
is
in
the
front
brake.
*
Maintain
a
constant
speed.
This
helps
to
prevent
the
"rubber
band
effect."
*
Be
aware
of
openings
as
you
ride
so
that
you
will
have
a
place
to
maneuver
in
case
of
an
emergency.
Also,
be
aware
of
the
riders
around
you
(especially
the
one
to
your
side)
and
give
each
other
as
much
room
to
move
as
possible
in
any
situation.
*
Always
keep
the
group
tight
without
crowding
each
other.
Stay
close
through
intersections
and
traffic
lights,
so
the
group
doesn't
get
divided.
*
If
there
is
a
vehicle
that
has
to
get
onto
the
freeway,
let
that
vehicle
through
and
then
close
the
gap
as
quickly
as
possible
afterwards.
*
If
an
exit
is
missed,
stick
together
as
a
group,
proceed
to
the
next
exit,
then
return
to
the
correct
exit.
*
Never
ride
in
someone's
blind
spot.
*
Remember,
each
rider
is
responsible
for
their
own
safety.
*
Remember,
you
are
not
safe
from
lightning
on
a
motorcycle.

PAST
EVENTS
The
winner's
of
the
Piece
of
the
Pie
Contest
were
Greg
Short
and
Rick
Cicero.
The
pie
throwers
were
Paula
Boyd
and
Steve
Mounce.
The
money
raised
for
the
Hardship
Fund
was
$180.
Thank's
to
all
you
voted
with
your
dollars
and
cents.
It
was
great
to
see
these
guys
get
what
was
coming
to
them!!
The
Spring
Fever
Ride
was
plagued
by
cold
weather.
There
were
four
brave
souls
who
rode.
Greg
Short,
Mike
Boyd,
Bob
Lupini,
and
Don
Sherman.
The
other
25
went
in
cages.
We
shopped,
ate,
2
rode
a
train,
ate,
several
went
on
a
ghost
tour,
Keith
got
a
tat,
ate
again
and
2
couples
celebrated
wedding
anniversaries.
Stayed
overnight
and
had
a
really
great
time.
We
have
decided
to
move
the
ride
a
couple
of
weeks
later
next
year
to
a
bit
warmer
weather.
If
you
have
not
been
on
an
overnight
ride
with
the
group
you
are
missing
out.
We
have
more
fun
and
excitement
than
you
could
ever
believe.
We
have
2
more
overnight
ride's
this
year,
Talimena
Trail
and
Oklahoma
City.
Reserve
your
room
with
Paula
at
Cycle
Connection.
A
special
note
about
the
ride
to
Oklahoma
City
on
September
13th.
Paula
has
blocked
20
rooms
at
Econo
Lodge.
405-278-7250.
If
you
want
one
of
the
rooms,
you
must
call
and
reserve
it
with
your
own
credit
card
by
August
29th.
Be
sure
to
tell
them
the
rooms
are
blocked
under
Cycle
Connection
H.O.G.
Chapter.
And
please
notify
Paula
that
you
have
reserved
a
room.
417-623-1054,
Paula
Boyd,
Parts
Department.
The
Ladies
of
Harley
rode
to
Schermerhorn
Park
in
Galena
for
the
April
meeting
and
picnic.
Some
climbed
the
hill
to
visit
the
Nature
Center
which
was
very
interesting
if
you
are
into
triantula's,
indoor
bee
hives
and
creepy
snakes.
Actually,
it
is
one
of
the
best
Nature
Center's
in
the
area
and
is
operated
by
volunteer's
who
give
their
time
to
answer
questions.
It
is
also
a
beautiful
very
old
park
on
Shoal
Creek.
The
Ladies
of
Harley
"Chain
Gang"
walked
the
road
in
front
of
Cycle
Connection
and
picked
up
bags
of
trash.
We
would
like
to
ask
that
you
do
not
throw
out
bottles,
cans,
car
tires,
yellow
pipes,
or
cell
phones
on
this
road!!
We
plan
another
clean
up
later
in
the
year.
Thanks
to
all
who
helped
with
this
volunteer
project.

CHAPTER
BYLAW'S
The
Bylaw's
Committee
is
working
on
Chapter
Bylaw's.
Our
Chapter
must
adhere
to
the
National
H.O.G.
Charter
and
these
bylaws
are
things
that
our
Chapter
does
that
other
Chapter's
may
not
do
the
same
way.
They
will
be
submitted
to
the
Officer's
and
Sponsor
and
after
being
agreed
upon
or
changed
by
the
Officer's
and
Sponsor
then
we
will
give
a
copy
of
the
bylaw's
to
each
member.
Also,
the
Primary
Officer's
(Director,
Assistant
Director,
and
Secretary/Treasurer)
will
be
attending
the
Primary
Officer's
Training
in
May.
They
will
accumulate
information
from
instructor's
and
other
Chapter's
to
help
our
Chapter
be
a
better,
bigger,
enthusiastic
group
of
Harley
rider's.
