Motorcycle and Automobile owners
strut their stuff in Colorado Springs

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 17 as the 2nd Annual Pikes Peak Custom and Classic Show & Shine returns to Colorado Springs.

This annual event is held in honor of Armed Forces Day, and is presented by Pikes Peak Harley-Davidson/Buell and Pro Promotions. This free event offers the owners of custom and antique motorcycles and cars an opportunity to show off their hard work, pride and joy. “We have really had great participation in this event from the community,” said Rob Brooks, President of Pikes Harley-Davidson/Buell. “We have a great number of entries from both the motorcycle owners and the custom car community, and the spectator has been just awesome!” Brooks added, “We are really looking forward to this years event. It’s one of our favorites.

New for 2008, is the addition of a sport bike class for the show. Pikes Peak Motorsports, the local Aprilia, Motoguzzi and Hyosung dealership has come on board to sponsor the event and give the sport bike owners their props. “There are a huge number of sport bike enthusiasts here in Southern Colorado, and we want to recognize and welcome them to this event.” said Paul Tang of PPM. Not only is admission to this event free of charge, but there is no entry fee to show your ride either! Some great trophies and prizes will be given away to all the winners, and the spectators decide whose creation will get an award.

The Show & Shine features food, liquid refreshment and great music all day long. The Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Museum volunteers will be on hand serving up ice cold Miller and Coors beer, and Phil’s Pig Out barbecue will be serving up the vittles. With regards to Armed Forces Day: The Soldiers For Jesus Motorcycle Club will be on hand collecting badly needed items for our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Soldiers for Soldiers is a national effort by our club to support the brave men and women who are defending our country overseas,” said Jim Peterson of SFJ M/C. “Our donations will be sent to the First ID Combat Aviation Brigade”. Peterson added, “These men and women are there for us everyday, and this is a easy and inexpensive way to say thank you for their valiant efforts.” The management of Pro Promotions and Pikes Peak Harley- Davidson/Buell recognize and appreciate the efforts of the Soldiers For Jesus motorcycle Club and look forward to seeing all the “Rumble” magazine readers May 17 at the “Show & Shine” event.

Over the last 105 years in the saddle, we’ve seen war, conflicts, depression, recession, resistance and revolution.  But every time this country has come out stronger than before.  Because chrome and asphalt puts distance between you and whatever the world can throw at you.  Freedom and wind outlast hard times.  And the rumble of an engine drowns out all the spin on the evening news. If 105 years have proved one thing, it’s that fear sucks and it doesn’t last long.  So Screw It, Let’s Ride

Pikes Peak or Colorado Springs Harley-Davidson to demo a bike or just kick the tires and get a free limited-edition bandana while supplies last.
