MYKE'S
MEMORIAL
DAY
RIDE!
I
have
taken
many
motorcycles
rides
across
America
and
each
one
has
been
an
exciting
experience.
My
expectations
are
calculated
by
years
of
experience
and
I
am
seldom
surprised.
This
Memorial
Day
ride
to
Rolling
Thunder
in
Washington
D.C
however
was
different
and
exciting
in
ways
I
couldn’t
possibly
have
calculated.
I
usually
ride
alone
and
I
like
it
that
way.
I
meet
friends
along
the
way
and
when
I
reach
where
I’m
going,
I
have
no
structure,
planned
stops,
a
flexible
route
and
no
set
time
to
be
any
place.
This
time
I
rode
with
Robert
Patrick
and
Rusty
Tinsley.
Robert
is
the
actor
who
played
The
Terminator
(T-2)
and
co
stars
on
the
tv
series
The
Unit.
He
is
also
a
proud
and
committed
BoozeFighter
M.C
member
and
President
of
the
101
Chapter.
Rusty
is
a
member
of
The
Ugly
M.C,
has
had
an
amazing
Hollywood
career
getting
7
Emmy
Awards
behind
the
camera.
He
now
chooses
to
work
for
Glendale
Harley-Davidson,
finding,
restoring
and
caring
for
their
motorcycle
collection.
We
left
on
Saturday,
May
17th
at
3pm.
Robert
was
the
Grand
Marshal
for
the
ride
in
Orange
County
that
raised
money
for
Habitat
for
Humanity
to
build
homes
for
wounded
veterans.
He
had
just
returned
from
a
U.S.O.
trip
to
Iraq
that
Tuesday
and
was
pumped.
Yeah
Baby!
We
pumped
the
first
day
until
we
reached
Flagstaff,
Arizona
at
3am
and
we
kept
on
pumping!
We
pumped
through
every
deadline
we
had
on
the
way
and
right
into
D.C
Thursday
night
at
8:30pm.
The
highlights
along
the
way
were
getting
to
Ft.
Smith
Arkansas
at
2am
and
getting
to
Ft.
Bragg,
N.C
at
3:20
AM
when
we
were
supposed
to
meet
friends
around
9pm.
Then
we
totally
blew
off
a
ceremony
at
Quantico
Robert
really
wanted
to
make,
only
to
get
to
D.C
on
time
to
have
the
most
amazing
Memorial
Day
weekend
ever.
And
Mr.
T-2
was
the
difference.
He
was
recognized
everywhere,
was
gracious
and
appreciative
of
everyone
and
had
a
true
passion
for
the
ride,
the
people,
this
country,
his
family
and
his
club.
We
went
to
Walter
Reed
Army
Hospital
on
Friday
and
I’m
sorry
I
can
not
write
an
entire
story
just
on
that
experience.
All
I
can
say
is
that
if
you’ve
ever
wondered
what
value
there
is
to
“celebrity”
you
would
know
watching
this
guy
give
his
to
those
wounded
warriors.
IT
WAS
INSPIRING.
Saturday
was
get
the
bikes
serviced
day
and
see
friends
at
Ft.
Washington
Harley-Davidson.
Sunday
was
Rolling
Thunder!
They
say
there
were
over
700,000
motorcycles.
Well
I
don’t
know
the
number
but
it
was
absolutely
huge
and
I
couldn’t
begin
to
tell
you
what
the
experience
is
like
every
year.
Plan
on
going
at
least
once
whether
you
ride
or
not
and
don’t
miss
the
Friday
night
candlelight
vigil
at
The
Wall.
Every
Memorial
Day
(Monday)
there
is
a
ceremony
at
the
Wall
that
includes
speakers
then
wreath
laying.
I
always
go
but
I
was
surprised
that
after
such
a
grueling
week
Robert
was
also
excited
about
it.
On
the
way
there
we
hung
out
with
Gary
Sinese
for
almost
an
hour
and
after
the
event
it
took
well
over
an
hour
to
pull
Robert
away
from
Gold
Star
Moms,
other
dignitaries
and
just
lots
of
vets.
Then
we
left
D.C
and
started
the
Ride
Home.
The
weather
was
perfect
the
whole
way;
so
far.
Now
after
nine
days
of
a
meteorological
feast
was
coming
a
meteorological
famine.
Oh
yeah,
the
ride
back
was
long,
cold,
hot,
wet,
with
added
features
of
hail
storms
(several)
and
getting
stuck
(in
an
abandoned
STUCKEYS)
in
a
tornado.
An
18
wheeler
was
blown
over
and
a
freight
train
knocked
off
the
tracks,
but
here
we
are.
Some
other
highlights
of
the
return
trip
included
stopping
at
the
AMA
Museum
and
Hall
of
Fame
in
Pickerington,
Ohio.
There
we
saw
Roberts
04
wide
glide
on
exhibit
and
did
some
motorcycle
politicking.
Imagine
if
the
AMA
did
a
similar
BoozeFighters
exhibit
as
the
Sturgis
Museum
and
Hall
of
Fame?
The
irony
of
that
is
sensational!
We
made
it
to
Rapid
City
Friday
night
and
on
Saturday
met
my
friend
Pepper
Massey,
who
is
the
Director
of
the
Black
Hills
Rally,
at
the
FireHouse
on
Main
Street.
She
was
being
inducted
as
an
honorary
member
of
the
Wind
&
Fire
M.C.
of
which
I
am
the
9th
honorary
member.
Pepper
is
a
great
lady
and
I
wanted
to
be
there
and
it
meant
a
lot
that
Robert
and
Rusty
were
willing
to
go
out
of
their
way
to
join
me.
Pepper
also
appreciated
it.
And
then
we
rode
to
Sturgis
where
Robert
got
to
spend
time
appreciating
the
above
mentioned
BoozeFighters
exhibit.
It
was
great,
but
the
weather
still
sucked.
Got
on
the
road
late,
rode
to
Cheyenne
ducking
deer
all
day.
(Robert
got
attacked
at
70
MPH
by
an
owl).
Sunday
it’s
Cheyenne,
WY
to
Mesquite,
Nevada,
and
LA
on
Monday,
June
2nd.
