Keeping
Your
Machine
Guarded
in
the
Off
Season
We
have
noticed
a
slight
increase
in
motorcycle
and
ATV
theft
in
the
past
few
months.
There
is
nothing
worse
than
noticing
your
bike
missing
after
waiting
all
month
for
that
perfect
day
to
ride!
I
know
it
has
happened
to
more
than
one
of
us,
you
park
your
machine
for
the
winter
and
forget
about
it.
Then
that
perfect
Sunday
afternoon
is
there,
just
begging
for
you
to
take
out
your
bike.
But
your
bike
is
stolen.
Who?
How?
When?
Why
did
I
cancel
my
insurance?
We
want
to
give
everyone
some
basic
tips
on
protecting
your
machine.
1. Don’t
cancel
your
comprehensive
insurance!
Comprehensive,
or
“comp”,
typically
covers
theft,
fire,
wind,
and
vandalism.
This
is
last
thing
you
want
to
drop,
especially
if
you
are
making
payments
on
a
newer
motorcycle.
If
insurance
is
too
costly,
look
at
dropping
some
of
the
less
necessary
coverage
while
your
bike
is
sitting
up
or
possibly
raising
your
deductibles.
We
offer
some
great
options
for
seasonal
riders.
2. Keep
the
keys
in
a
secure
place.
I
know
this
sounds
very
elementary,
but
it
is
true.
I
can’t
tell
you
the
number
of
people
that
park
their
bike
in
a
“safe”
location,
but
leave
the
keys
in
the
ignition.
Not
only
is
this
a
bad
idea,
but
most
insurance
companies
won’t
cover
your
loss.
3. Park
your
bike
in
the
front
of
your
garage
and
keep
it
covered.
Thieves
love
to
prowl
alley
ways
and
open
garages,
especially
this
time
of
the
year.
If
you
keep
your
pride
and
joy
in
the
front
of
the
garage
and
covered,
potential
bike
thieves
are
less
likely
to
notice
it.
If
it
is
inconvenient
for
them
to
push
out
of
your
garage,
chances
are
they
will
not
bother.
4. Install
a
Lojack
or
MoGo
theft-recovery
device.
An
audible
alarm
is
nice,
but
for
about
the
same
price
you
can
get
something
that
will
help
the
police
make
an
actual
recovery.
Lojack
is
simple,
your
street
bike
gets
stolen
and
all
you
need
to
do
is
tell
the
police.
Once
the
VIN
is
in
the
national
computer,
the
system
uplinks
itself
and
the
unit
sends
a
silent
signal
to
police
cars.
It
will
guide
the
police
to
the
location
of
the
stolen
motorcycle.
MoGo
uses
cellular
technology
and
it
can
be
installed
on
ANYTHING.
Simply
report
your
bike
stolen
and
then
call
MoGo’s
call
center
and
they
will
“ping”
your
bike
and
notify
the
police
of
the
unit’s
exact
location.
In
many
instances,
the
police
will
request
a
satellite
view
and
the
MoGo
staff
can
send
these
images
via
email
directly
to
the
officer’s
in-car
computer.
We
also
recommend
attaching
a
battery
tender.
Both
of
these
units
require
a
12
volt
source
to
operate.
If
the
bike
sits
up
too
long,
the
battery
could
possibly
drain
and
make
your
recovery
device
ineffective.
Not
to
mention,
when
you
are
ready
to
ride
your
bike
will
be
ready!
5. Keep
your
bike
cabled
to
a
stationary
object.
Even
if
it
is
inside
the
garage,
we
recommend
cabling
it
to
something
immovable.
If
the
bike
is
chained
to
a
light
pole,
a
bench,
a
metal
post,
etc…
it
makes
that
machine
all
the
harder
to
steal.
This
method
is
not
fool-proof
but
it
will
help
deter
a
would-be
thief.
Most
bikes
we
have
seen
stolen
are
usually
loaded
into
a
van
or
on
a
trailer.
If
the
bike
can’t
be
picked
up,
then
it
can’t
be
stolen.
Stop
by
Dallas
Honda
and
we
can
help
you
keep
your
bike
safe
and
sound!

WINTERIZE
YOUR
MACHINE
One
of
the
most
overlooked
items
going
into
the
cold
months
is
proper
winterization.
Living
in
Texas,
many
people
overlook
the
importance
of
proper
winterization.
With
watercraft,
this
is
especially
important.
True,
we
don’t
have
that
many
cold
days
here
in
N.
Texas,
but
all
it
takes
is
one
night
of
low
temperatures
to
make
water
freeze.
Water
will
typically
stay
in
the
block
and
cooling
system
of
your
$10,000
Aquatrax
when
you
take
it
out
of
the
lake.
The
water
can
stay
inside
for
months
and
you
just
forget
about
it,
until
that
first
freeze
(yes,
even
in
the
garage
you
are
still
at
risk).
When
water
freezes,
it
expands.
This
expansion
is
what
puts
pressure
and
stress
on
the
engine
block,
thus
causing
it
to
crack
and
do
thousands
of
dollars
in
damage.
Not
to
mention,
the
fuel
in
the
tank
will
also
go
bad
and
cause
serious
damage
to
the
fuel
lines,
intake,
and
electronic
injectors.
An
ounce
of
prevention
is
worth
a
pound
of
cure.
Contact

service

your
winter
service
before
the
first
cold
snap.
Pick-up
and
delivery
service
may

available
in
the
Dallas-Metro
area.
Don’t
let
your
street
bike
or
off
road
machine
go
neglected
in
the
winter
months.
Remember,
when
the
fuel
goes
bad
it
will
create
a
varnish
in
the
gas
tank,
create
gunk
in
the
fuel
lines,
and
create
major
issues
in
the
fuel
injection
system.
One
other
thing
to
consider
is
a
battery
tender.
For
only
$34.95
you
can
purchase
a
great
little
device
that
will
stay
connected
to
your
battery
when
your
bike
is
not
running.
Owning
a
bike
is
fun
and
the
experience
should
be
worry
free.
Just
take
a
few
minutes
to
properly
prepare
your
bike
for
the
cold
spell
and
when
that
first
ray
of
sunshine
hits,
you
can
jump
on
and
ride.
