I own a 2005 600 Ski-doo SDI. I noticed at the end of last riding season my idle was very sporadic. I also noticed that it would stall going in reverse. Have you seen this symptom before? And if so what did you find.

Thanks for the e-mail, As a matter of fact I have seen this symptom numerous times. What we have been seeing is the intake boots will delaminate or even split. This causes a major air leak. On some models the boots are very hard to inspect and easily missed. I have actually had to remove the boots themselves to inspect. If you let this problem go unattended this will cause engine failure due to lean conditions.

Here are ten items to inspect to make sure your sled is trail ready.

1. Michigan trail sticker
2. Replace spark plugs (I change mine annually) Or at least have a spare set.
3. Spare belt
4. Inspect Hy-fax
5. Inspect Wear bars
6. Inspect condition of track (specifically if you have studs)
7. Inspect and adjust track tension and alignment. (Very Important)
8. Inspect shocks for weakness or stiffness
9. Inspect chain case oil level and condition.
10. Inspect fuel lines
