‘Monster
Comic’
com^ic
(kom
ik)
n.
1. a
magazine
containing
comic
strips
[Greek
komikos]
November
17,
2008:
Ducati
announces
the
National
Showroom
Premier
of
the
M1100S.
Dealers
are
encouraged
to
join
with
high-profile
artists
across
the
nation
to
customize
the
new
Monster
for
showroom
launch
and
have
customers
vote
for
their
favorite
bike.
The
goal;
Highlight
the
M1100’s
vast
potential
for
personalization
and
win
a
slot
for
our
bike
for
the
balance
of
the
IMS
tour
with
Ducati.
November
20,
2008:
Order
is
sent
to
Ducati
for
right
and
left
tank
panel,
rear
cowl
and
windshield.
Discussion
begins
for
a
theme.
It
has
to
be
Monsterful;
wonderful
and
extraordinary
according
to
Oxford.
Bodywork
is
anticipated
early
December
and
will
give
us
less
than
3
weeks
to
complete
because
of
the
holiday.
November
21,
2008:
Connect
with
Lee
Hellion
from
Hellion
Designs.
Lee
does
awesome
work
with
helmets,
but
we
had
not
worked
together
prior
to
this
project.
We
discuss
timing
and
concepts.
He
has
2
other
jobs
running,
but
is
excited
to
be
involved.
First
inspiration
comes
from
famous
monsters
–
Godzilla,
Frankenstein,
Cookie
Monster
etc.
Too
simple
and
concern
over
copyrights
prevail.
November
23,
2008:
Keyword
searches
for
Monster
returns
old
comic
book
art.
Fun!
Discuss
idea
to
Monsterize
a
comic
book
complete
with
cover
art
and
hokey
ads
on
M1100
panels.
Lee
thinks
it
will
be
fun.
December
5,
2008:
Bodywork
arrives
and
is
re-shipped
to
Hellion.
December
12,
2008:
Lee
emails
concerns
about
all
the
detail
work
we
are
requesting
and
how
it
will
look
on
the
panels.
Thinks
each
panel
will
look
good
as
a
movie
poster.
We
request
a
phone
call
to
make
sure
Lee
has
a
clear
idea
of
what
we
are
visualizing.
We
forgo
the
usual
conceptual
paper
draft
versions
due
to
time
constraints.
It’s
a
big
risk,
but
we
have
little
choice
at
this
point.
December
13,
2008:
All
set.
Lee
is
running
on
his
own!
December
24,
2008
through
Jan
1,
2009:
Holidays
bring
concerns
over
timing.
It
will
be
tight
to
meet
the
deadline
that
Ducati
has
set
to
upload
images
to
the
voting
website.
January
2,
2009:
Lee
says
the
panels
have
shipped.
What
can
he
say
about
his
own
work?
We
will
have
to
wait
a
few
more
days
to
see
the
final
product.
January
6,
2009:
Painted
panels
arrive.
Everyone
at
the
store
gets
a
good
chuckle.
Great
work
Lee.
January
6,
2009:
First
2
M1100S’s
arrive
for
premier
weekend
in
four
days.
Cliff’s
service
team
prioritize
the
bikes
for
display.
Uncrate,
assemble,
remove
and
replace
all
panels,
install
Ducati
Performance
Termignoni
Exhaust
and
Carbon
Hugger.
January
8,
2009:
‘Monster
Comic’
rolls
out
of
service
and
is
hastily
photographed
for
Ducati
deadline.
Extra
accessories
still
on
order
will
be
added
as
they
arrive.
We
Want
You!
To
vote;
go
to
DucatiUSA.com
and
check
off
‘Monster
Comic’
as
your
favorite
so
it
can
go
on
show
tour
and
amaze
Monster
fans.
This
was
a
great
exercise
to
show
everyone
the
simple
versatility
of
customizing
your
own
M1100.
‘Monster
Comic’
will
be
on
display
at
Cliff’s
Cycle
Revolution
for
the
Premier
weekend
January
9/10,
2009
and
then
moved
to
Ducati
NY
for
the
east
coast
unveiling
of
the
Ducati
Streetfighter.
Come
and
say
