On Tuesday February 12th, the tri-state area was ravaged with 60+ mph winds. This wind, as you can imagine, caused a great deal of damage and power outages to businesses county wide.
M&S HD was one such business affected by this lengthy outage, not only could regular business not be conducted, we were also forced to cancel our Garage Party that so many were looking forward to attending. While we are working towards the rescheduling of this event, we would like to thank everyone for their understanding and we are equally anxious to see all each of you once the new date has been established.

Winter Riding Tips
For most, winter means getting fuel stabilizer, hooking up the trickle charger, and gently snuggling their bike into a warm corner of the garage. There are a hardy few that winter means no change to their riding habits except the addition of quite a bit fo extra clothing.
Riding a motorcyle in cold weather comes down to one simple concept: insulation. Insulation boils down to two things: layers; which slow the rate at which our body looses heat and wind proofing; to keep the wind from stealing our heat.
Layers are critical for winter weather motorcycling. The key is to have enough layers on that you feel comfortable (maybe even slightly warm) when you step outside and just stand in place (before you start your ride). Your bottom layer should always be some type of snug fitting thermal or fleece underwear, creating a warm layer of air between your body and this material. Now don't wear so many layers that you lose mobility, if you can't hold your arms at your side, then it's a pretty safe bet that you have too many on.
The biggest issue you run into when riding your bike in the winter is keeping hte wind out. Wind, specifically wind chill, is probably your worst enemy on a motorcycle in the winter. Wind-proofing takes the most trial and error to perfect. It can take quite a while before you finally plug all those air leaks. The main thing to do is make sure you outer layer is some type of wind-proof material. No shock to many that leather is by far the most popular choice. Ideally you should look for something that is both wind as well as water proof.
A vast majority of "off-season" riders have the most problem with their hands and feet. The reason for this is that as you get cold, your body focuses circulation on your internal organs to keep them warm, while your hands and feet get the shaft. So when selecting cold weather gear don't skimp when it comes to getting gloves and boots. A good investment now will save you a great deal in the long run in both money and time.
