is
Armed
Forces
Day
and
for
millions
of
Americans
who
are
in
some
way
connected
to
the
military,
it’s
a
very
special
day
Beginning
in
1949
as
a
day
to
recognize
all
branches
of
the
military;
Armed
Forces
Day
was
designed
to
expand
public
understanding
of
the
role
our
armed
forces
play
in
providing
safety
and
security
for
all.
It’s
also
a
day
for
the
military
to
show
"state-of-the-art"
equipment
to
the
civilian
population
they
are
protecting.
Here
in
Central
Louisiana,
Fort
Polk
is
a
beloved
member
of
the
community
in
addition
to
playing
a
vital
role
in
the
security
of
our
nation.
“Sometimes
we
forget
that
those
soldiers
and
airmen
are
our
friends
and
neighbors.”
said
Scott
Courville,
General
Manager
of
Loewer
Powersports.
“These
military
men
and
women
sit
beside
us
in
church.
Their
kids
go
to
school
with
our
kids.
They
shop
where
we
do
and
eat
at
the
same
restaurants
as
we
do.
They
are
our
community
and
it’s
time
we
showed
how
much
we
appreciate
the
sacrifices
they
make.”
This
year
Loewer
Powersports
intends
to
make
Armed
Forces
Day
special
for
local
military
and
their
families
by
hosting
a
benefit
ride
for
the
Food
Bank
of
Central
Louisiana,
complete
with
music,
food
and
demo
rides
on
a
new
motorcycles.
The
dealership
is
also
offering
special
pricing
for
any
member
of
the
military
or
immediate
families.
“We
wanted
to
find
some
sort
of
way
to
show
the
members
of
the
military
just
how
much
we
appreciate
the
sacrifices
they
make,”
said
Courville,
“It
doesn’t
matter
if
you
are
active
duty
or
retired,
come
celebrate
Armed
Forces
day
with
us.”
The
benefit
ride
leaves
Loewer
Powersports
at
10:00
am
and
returns
in
time
for
lunch.
There
is
a
$10.00
donation
with
all
proceeds
going
to
the
Food
Bank
of
Central
Louisiana.
“We
hope
the
riding
public
will
turn
out
to
support
our
military
and
contribute
to
a
great
cause,
the
Food
Bank,”
said
Courville,
“All
riders
are
welcomed-sportbike,
cruisers,
or
touring.

and
ride
with
us.”
