the 1st
Annual
Larry
Fourtner
Memorial
Ride.
I
started
working
at
Idaho
House
of
Scooters
almost
two
months
ago
to
the
day.
One
of
the
first
customer
interactions
I
had
was
with
a
guy
named
Larry
Fourtner.
Larry
made
it
very
clear
to
me
from
the
first
time
we
met
that
he
loved
scooters
and
wanted
to
do
whatever
he
could
to
make
the
shop,
and
me,
successful.
From
that
day
on
I
would
see
Larry
a
couple
times
a
week
for
our
group
rides
or
when
he
would
stop
by
the
shop
just
to
check
in
and
see
how
I
was
doing.
When
Larry
was
here,
all
pretense
of
scooter
worker
and
scooter
customer
went
by
the
wayside
and
we
were
just
a
couple
of
dudes
talking
about
stupid
people,
great
rides,
and
why
Piaggio
was
clearly
the
best
scooter
manufacturer
in
the
world.
The
last
time
I
saw
Larry
was
eight
days
ago.
He
came
in
on
a
Friday,
hunkered
down
in
a
chair
across
from
me
and
in
typical
fashion,
started
telling
me
about
this
amazing
ride
he
had
just
gone
on.
The
way
he
described
it
was
like
a
kid
describing
their
first
trip
to
a
carnival.
Every
ride
he
ever
went
on
was
his
favorite
ride
ever
and
he
was
always
planning
where
to
go
next.
We
talked
about
our
Wednesday
night
rides
and
I
told
him
I
was
feeling
discouraged
by
the
low
turnout
we'd
been
having.
He
told
me
to
just
keep
riding,
that
no
one
had
done
as
good
a
job
as
me
at
getting
new
riders
together
on
the
road.
It
was
one
of
the
nicest
things
anyone
has
ever
said
to
me.
Less
than
24
hours
after
that
conversation,
Larry
layed
down
for
a
nap
and
never
woke
up.
If
I'd
known
the
day
before
was
the
last
time
we'd
speak
I
would
have
told
him
how
important
he
was
to
me
and
the
scooter
community
in
this
town
and
how
without
him,
no
Wednesday
night
ride
will
ever
be
the
same.
He
was
a
good
friend
and
I
miss
him.
