I’m
Jim
Buckles,
the
new
full
time
Rider’s
Edge
Instructor
here
at
Renegade.
I
recently
retired
from
the
Army
after
24
years.
I
have
been
riding
motorcycles
all
my
life,
ever
since
my
dad
sat
me
on
his
gas
tank
to
start
teaching
me
how
to
ride
at
age
4.
I
started
out
on
mini-bikes
and
from
there
worked
my
way
through
dirt
bikes
and
finally
into
street
bikes.
One
of
my
greatest
passions
is
riding
my
Heritage
Softail®
Classic,
another
one
is
teaching
new
or
skilled
riders
how
to
become
better
and
safer
riders.
I
have
a
passion
for
motorcycle
safety,
I
know
first
hand
how
important
motorcycle
safety
is.
I
earned
my
broken
wing
patch
in
1987
when
I
hit
a
large
turtle
at
70
MPH
wearing
only
my
helmet,
shorts,
and
deck
shoes.
When
I
was
finally
released
from
the
hospital
two
and
a
half
months
later
the
first
thing
I
did
was
get
back
on
my
bike.
That
is
how
I
became
interested
in
teaching
motorcycle
safety.
If
I
were
doing
what
I
can
teach
you
to
do,
I
would
have
seen
the
turtle
and
avoided
the
accident
all
together. |
