Cooler Weather Won't Stop Us
As we write this, it's snowing. The first real snow of the season (December 7th), at least in Essex Junction.

The fall weather cooperated and our Chili Polar Ride proved many of you are brave enough for both cold temperatures and hot chili. We continue to break records on attendance with 58 bikes plus countless passengers and 16 entries for chili. Add all the donated coats and cash for the Lund Family and life is really very good.

Now let's bring it together for the Moose Foundation Poker Tournament this Sunday. This charity is about "Riders Helping Injured Riders". The Moose Foundation has helped 3 downed riders in its first year. And it will continue to be a resource for bikers involved in accidents. Come play, watch or just support the cause.

The whole crew at GMH-D wants to wish you the best for incoming 2010. Most aren't sure yet what to call next year (0'10, 2010, Oh-Ten, One-Zero, Ten) but we can be sure it includes motorcycle adventures.
We wish you the best as the year comes to a close and look forward to seeing you in shop in One-Ohhh!!!

Merry Riding and Happy Biking,

The GMHD Team
David and Debby

P.S. - get it now - we are closed Dec 25-Jan 4

A Bikers' Winter Tale
By Sandra Steeves

T 'was the night before Christmas
when all through the land,
No motorcycles stirred
from off its kickstand.

Dust covers were hung on all bikes
with great care,
In hopes that come spring
no dirt would be there.

The riders were nestled all snug
in their beds
Visions of new rides
filling their heads.

My battery on the tender
and tires parked on wood,
Meant my bike now stayed
in the garage for good.

I sat eying leathers and
holding helmet in lap,
Contemplating my bikes'
long winter nap.

When out in the road
there arose such a clatter,
That I had to spring up
to see what was the matter!

Away to the curtain I flew,
gawking to see--
A lone rider on bike--
how could this be?

The moon on the road
gave plenty of light
And I watched as the guy
roared past with delight.

More rapid than rockets
the cruiser did charge
And the man sitting on it...
appeared rather large.

Victory? Harley?
What make was his ride?
Was Star? Or Honda
marked on its side?

As dry leaves scattered
in the beam of his light,
He roared on by
and into the night.

I grumbled and mumbled
and went back to sit down,
And wished I was out riding
while I scowled with a frown.

How slowly time passes
with no riding to do
I console myself reading
a bike book or two.

An old biker movie
might be on TV,
Or Jason Britton re-runs
to entertain me.

But time will drag on
until spring warms the air.
When riders and bikes
emerge once again everywhere.
