New Model of the Month
2010 Chaparral 204 Xtreme

A Bold New Approach To Wakeboarding

Everything that makes Chaparral's Xtreme Series the world's most talked about line of wakeboard tow boats just got more affordable with the wild new 204 Xtreme. Dual prop stern drive propulsion eliminates the performance-robbing headaches of owning an inboard. Stern drive trim, a deep-V hull design and onboard ballast let you dial in a controlled wake that screams major air time. Inside, no comparably-sized wakeboard boat equals the 204's legroom, storage capacity, transom access or luxuries.

Happy Holidays From Blue Springs Marine

Service Department Hot Tips
Battery maintenance is highly overlooked in the winter months. Boats get winterized but the battery is left in the boat all winter. Today’s marine engines have computers on them, and unless disconnected it will slowly drain the battery dead. This slow discharge of the battery can take it so low that the battery cannot be re-charged and will have to be replaced.

Did You Know?
THE BOAT DIET----Americans are big on supersizing -- and it shows. Although it's easy to see what we're doing to ourselves, it's not so apparent that we're doing the same thing to our boats. They come from the builder lean and ready to roar, but it's not long before we're bulking them up. From fishing tackle and watertoys to tools and electronics to those the-more-the-merrier passenger loads, our boats are getting heavier. The Coast Guard’s maximum capacity label is usually posted somewhere close to the helm.

Boating Industry News
The EPA has made some changes that will impact the marine industry effective January 1st, 2010. On this date, in-board/outboard(sterndrive) engines that don’t meet emissions standards can not be produced. This means that all engines except for the 4.3L engine will now have a catalytic converter added to them similar to your car. The addition of this part adds $1,500-$2,500 to the price of all boats. This makes now one of the best times to purchase a boat. Take advantage of the lower prices as dealers are liquidating inventory and still have non-catalytic engines still available. All boats with non-catalytic engines still can be sold and used. This law only affects new-manufactured engines after January 1st, 2010.

Boat Cleaning Tip of the Month
Many people when it comes to boat cleaning just walk into their garage and grab cleaners off the shelf designed for their car. Others go down to the local auto parts store to find cleaning products. The cleaners and waxes sold at these stores are designed for automotive use, not the harsh environment on the water. Waxes for a boat are much heavier and designed to last longer because of the amount of water and UV rays it is exposed to. So if you’re going to spend the time waxing your boat, using marine waxes and polishes will make the job last longer and protect your boat better then standard automotive waxes.
