YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
The South Dakota Senate Transportation Committee will be considering a bill on Wednesday February 17th that will ultimately repeal your right to license your ATV or UTV for use on the streets in South Dakota.
Senate Bill 175 (SB175) is a bill that is designed to fund an ATV trail system in the Black Hills. In order to fund the proposed trail system the bill mandates that every ATV and UTV in the State will be required to purchase a $20 annual permit. This permit fee will be mandatory regardless if you use your ATV on the Black Hills trail system or not. If an ATV trail system is developed in the Black Hills it should be funded by the users of the trail system. SB175 will make every owner of an ATV or UTV in the State subsidize this regional trail system.
It is very important that you email or call the Senators on the Senate Transportation Committee this weekend and express your opposition to SB175. The contact information for the Senate Transportation Committee members is:
