Engle
News
February
2010
It
is
"Spring"
in
name
only,
but
here
are
some
news
items
to
read
while
you
wait
for
the
snow
to
melt.
We
have
just
returned
from
the
Triumph
Dealer
meeting
in
Orlando,
Florida
where
we
saw
the
new
Rocket
III
Roadster,
as
well
as
several
new
variants
on
existing
models.
We
first
heard
about
the
Roadster
last
Fall
and
in
person,
it
does
not
disappoint.
It
has
more
power
and
revised
ergonomics
to
make
it
more
of
a
standard
motorcycle
(feet
under
you)
rather
than
a
cruiser
(feet
forward).
New
instruments,
shocks
and
ABS
round
out
the
package
for
only
$13,999.
It
comes
in
any
color
you
want
as
long
as
it's
Phantom
Black
(glossy)
or
Matte
Black.
It
will
be
available
in
March
in
limited
quantities
-
the
Rocket
III
Roadster
will
replace
the
original
Rocket
III.
We
have
a
few
new
2008
standard
Rocket
III's
for
the
low
price
of
$12,299
with
your
choice
of
a
Free
Rocket
III
Leather
Jacket
or
a
Free
500
mile
service
while
they
last.
The
only
all
new
motorcycle
from
Triumph
recently
is
the
1600cc
parallel
twin
Thunderbird.
We
saw
two
new
versions
of
this
bike,
one
for
touring
and
one
for
performance.
The
Thunderbird
SE
Touring
comes
with
the
tall
windshield,
saddlebags,
sissy
bar/backrest,
rider
and
passenger
floorboards,
long
haul
touring
seat
and
ABS
for
only
$14,999.
Only
one
color
is
available,
Carnival
Red.
The
second
version
is
the
Thunderbird
1700
ABS.
It
features
a
factory
installed
1700cc
big
bore
kit
which
boosts
hp
and
torque
nicely.
You
can
buy
this
bike
in
standard
Thunderbird
colors
plus
a
new
color
called
Phantom
Haze,
a
red
that
fades
into
black.
Sells
for
only
$14,799
starting
in
April.
There
is
a
1700cc
big
bore
kit
that
can
be
retro-fitted
to
any
1600cc
Thunderbird.
There
are
three
new
interpretations
of
the
Bonneville
to
mention;
the
all
Black
T100,
the
Thruxton
SE
(red
frame/white
tank)
and
the
Bonneville
60.
While
the
standard
T100's
have
chrome
motor
covers,
the
new
Black
T100
has
black
motor
covers
and
a
black
gas
tank.
All
other
T100
features
are
retained.
This
bike
arrives
in
May
and
sells
for
only
$8,599.
The
Bonneville
60
is
a
T100
configured
much
like
the
Bonneville
50th
Anniversary
that
many
of
you
have
admired
in
our
showroom.
The
paint
on
the
"60"
is
a
two-tone
Meriden
Blue/Caspian
Blue.
One
bike
per
dealer
coming
in
May
and
sells
for
only
$8,999.
The
Thruxton
SE
has
been
seen
in
pictures
only,
but
it
looks
fabulous
and
several
customers
have
expressed
interest
in
this
very
limited
production
machine.
It
features
a
red
frame
and
Crystal
White
bodywork
including
a
flyscreen.
The
white
paint
is
offset
with
a
red
GT
stripe
in
the
usual
Thruxton
graphic.
There
will
not
even
be
one
bike
per
dealer
in
the
U.S.
This
bike
is
an
instant
classic,
priced
at
$9,349,
and
arrives
in
May.
Lest
you
think
all
the
news
is
about
Triumph,
let
me
remind
you
that
quietly
lurking
in
our
showroom
is
the
most
powerful
bike
we
(or
anyone)
has
ever
sold,
the
mighty
BMW
S1000RR.
We
should
have
inventory
to
sell
in
April,
but
you
can
see
it
right
here
right
now.
There
are
some
great
videos
of
this
bike
on
YouTube
and
much
info
on
the
S1000RR
Facebook
page.
We
have
all
colors
coming
in,
most
of
the
bikes
are
specified
with
ABS/Dynamic
Traction
Control
and
Shift
Assistant.
I
mentioned
in
the
previous
newsletter
about
the
new
DOHC
flat-twin
engines
coming
on
the
2010
RT
and
GS
models.
A
few
of
these
have
now
arrived.
Sourced
from
the
awesome
R1200HP2
Sport,
this
engine
sets
new
standards
for
smoothness
and
torque.
You
have
to
ride
one
to
fully
appreciate
what
they
have
achieved.
We
have
both
RT
and
GS
Demos
for
you
to
ride.
There
are
some
nice
cosmetic
changes
as
well,
mostly
on
the
RT.
New
valve
covers
are
on
both
models,
but
the
RT
gets
new
instruments,
windshield
and
new
front
bodywork.
New
colors
of
course:
Thunder
Grey
Metallic,
Ostra
Grey
Metallic
Matt,
Polar
Metallic
and
a
tri-color
in
Thunder
Grey/Titan
Silver/Granite
Gray
Metallic.
BMW
has
further
enhanced
their
ESA
(electronic
suspension
adjustment)
calling
the
new
version
ESA
II.
That
wraps
it
up
for
now.
The
snow
should
be
melting.
Come
see
us
soon
for
a
test
ride
on
one
of
our
exciting
new
models!
