Chapter Ride - 50/50 Rule
The 50/50 Rule is very basic: if the outside temperature is below 50 degrees; or we have a forecast of precipitation of 50% or more then the ride is cancelled. This will allow everyone to know that status before departing for the ride. However, don’t let this stop you from riding if you so desire.

April 2010 Newsletter

The Director's Minute
It was a pleasure to have Leah Whaley, our HOG Regional Manager, join us for our March meeting. Leah left POT (Primary Officer Training) in Rogers Arkansas, for our meeting before heading home to Milwaukee. She gave us a 25th Anniversary Challenge Coin for an extra special door prize. Thank you Leah for the coin and for making time to be with us!
We had seven officers attend POT, and I think new officers have a better understanding of HOG, their duties and how to work with everyone for a better chapter. The friendliness and enthusiasm is wonderful! Members from all over the country attend. There was an instructor from Australia and one from Belgium. How cool is that!
Instead of a Spring Poker Run, we are having a Crazy Dice Ride April 24th. At each stop you can roll 1 to 5 dice, for a score for that stop. However if you roll snake eyes (2 or more 1s ), then you do not get any points for that stop. How lucky are you? Come test your luck. We still need volunteers for this event. Contact Guy Daniels or myself.
May 22-23 is Celebrate Women Riders in Milwaukee. Several of us are going. If you would like to join us, then let Karen or myself know.
Plans are in the works to go to western Kentucky in July for a destination ride. We will leave on Friday and come back on Sunday. Interested? Details later. This is to keep you wondering.
We have some rides planned, but are working on others. If you have somewhere you would like to go,then tell one of the officers, so we can make it happen. Give us ideas for short rides, dinner or lunch rides, long rides or multi day rides. We welcome any and all suggestions.
If you haven’t been to any meetings yet, come join us. Meetings are going to turn into more of a social, instead of being so formal. They are going to be shorter so we can ride afterwards. Weather permitting.

Ride Safe and Ride Often,
Bill

Assistant Director
First and foremost I would like to Thank all that showed up for our meeting this past Sunday in spite of the weather. I would like to express my appreciation to Leah Whaley (our regional director) for attending our meeting and filling us in on HOG happenings and donating the cool HOG 25th Anniversary coin for 1 of our door prizes. As previously mentioned Registration for our State Rally in Columbia has been opened and the hotel is filling up fast, so get your registration taken care of asap, also don't forget to check out the Rally website and the video that our own Brian Black put together for the Rally see the links mentioned later in the newsletter, items for the Rally this year are a la cart and need to be ordered at time of registration. There are also several other State Rallies that preregistration is open for. HOG has partnered with AT&T this year to give us the members an opportunity to save 17% on our cellphone bills when we register them through the HOG website, another new benefit is Best Western points at biker friendly hotels ( they provide a bucket and cloths to clean your bike) and you can also use your Best Western points to pay for your HOG membership (how cool is that) We have our first ride coming up in April and I hope to see y'all there. This writing stuff is new to me so for now Keep the shiny side up and the Rubber side on the road. Enjoy this nice weather and watch out for all the critter's and hope to see ya at our next regular gathering at Dowd's Catfish Cabin at 11:00am on April 18th, until then have fun and ride, ride, ride.

Ozark Harley-Davidson in Lebanon and Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson in Osage Beach are having a Seasonal Sale April 6th through April 10th. We are marking down all of our Spring 2010 product to make room for our Summer 2010 product that is due to arrive any time. Stop by all this week to see if you can find something you just can't live without.

The Secretary's Corner
Our March meeting was held at Western Sizzlin' in Lebanon. We had 1 one new member, Dean Sitton. Our Regional Representative, Leah Whaley stopped in at the meeting on her way home. Leah let everyone know about the Chapter Challenge Coin Harley now has. These coins can be personalized with our chapter logo or the Harley Bar and Shield. The chapter should be taking orders at the next couple of meetings for those interested or you can order them online. Cost is $12.00 for Bar and Shield or $18 for chapter logo. Leah also made members aware of the programs that AT&T and Best Western are offering to HOG members. Thank you Leah for joining us, we truly enjoyed having you with us.
Treasurer, Karen DeCastro we had an account balance of $2822.66. The Treasurer's report was approved and seconded.
Editor/Membership, Tammie Black told us the chapter now has 284 members.
Head Road Captain, Lee Brown asked that we all be safe out there. No ride was planned for after the meeting due to the weather.
Ladies of Harley, Karen DeCastro said she will be leading Bill to Milwaukee when they go to celebrate Women Riders celebration in May. Anyone wishing to ride with them is welcomed.
Chapter Challenge, Brian Black indicated he has additional chapter challenge books for those needing them. Ladies be sure to take your chapter challenge books to the Garage Party to get credit for attendance.
Activities Officer, Guy Daniels announced he still needs help with stops. If you would like to man a stop for the Spring Dice Run on 24 April 2010 please get with Guy.
Dealership/Sponsor, Debi Fleming announced that the Ladies Garage Party is being held on 27 March and hopefully you have already signed up. The dealership is still offering several promos with the purchase of select model bikes. There will be a dealer sponsored Lady’s ride on 10 April to Honey Heaven and Vineyard Tearoom. Interested members should contact Jenna or Missy at the dealership. A seasonal sale is planned for 6-10 April.
Assistant Director, JR Doer most of the surrounding states have opened pre-registration for their rallies online. Register now if you plan on attending any of them. They will fill up fast. This year the state rally for Missouri is in Columbia and pre-registration is open. Hotels are filling up fast. He reminded everyone that you must purchase rally merchandise at time of registration because it is a la carte this year and will not be available at the rally site.
Director, Bill DeCastro announced the April meeting will be held at Dowd’s Catfish in Lebanon with the actual meeting time changing to 1130. This will allow for those wishing to eat to do so as they do not open until 1100... There is a group of members planning to attend Women Riders month in Milwaukee 21-21 May. If you would like to go, let Bill DeCastro know. The All-Harley Drags-Gypsy Rendezvous Nationals will be held 16-18 April. This will not be a pin stop as previously indicated. The chapter is planning a destination ride in July to Kentucky, more to follow next month.

Door Prizes won by: Joe Caufield, Carolyn Wolford and Howard Wolford. A Limited edition 25th Anniversary coin was presented by Leah to include in the door prizes. It was won by Jane Doerr.
