An Evening To Remember
February 25, 2010 Wolf Creek Harley-Davidson: Every woman needs a night out every once in a while and the Ladies Only Garage Party that Wolf Creek Harley-Davidson hosted on February 25th was just that for the 23 ladies who attended. Upon arrival, the ladies were greeted by the friendly dealership staff and presented with a goodie bag and program containing the night’s activities. During the first half hour, the women had several options to pamper themselves, including a wine tasting by Chinqua Penn Plantation Wine Room, chair massages by The Nurtured Body, delicious goodies by A Piece of Cake, and shopping and chatting with other women. About 7pm, the group was introduced to the staff at Wolf Creek Harley-Davidson and divided into 2 smaller groups. For the next hour or so as they visited four interactive stations, the women had the opportunity to get to know the different areas of the dealership.
At Station 1, Tony Henderson introduced the ladies to the five model families of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, pointing out their unique features. This was a great opportunity for the women to sit on the bikes and feel the differences. At Station 2, Sharee Sloan and Amy Tilley guided the group around the Motorclothes and General Merchandise department, beginning with helmets and making their way through articles of riding gear and eyewear. Station 3 was an introduction to the Fit Shop by Josh Roberts. Many of the women were surprised to learn that a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle can be customized to fit to their individual body type and riding style. Finally, the groups visited Hutch in the Service department where he demonstrated how to properly pick up a fallen motorcycle. We had a few brave souls who volunteered and who successfully followed Hutch’s demonstration.
The evening ended with more chair massages, sweets, and wine tasting. We want to thank all the women who joined us for this wonderful evening. It was great to get to know you better! We also thank Chinqua Penn Plantation Wine Room, The Nurtured Body and A Piece of Cake for helping us to make this an evening to remember for all of our ladies. If you are a woman who is interested in learning more about motorcycle riding and meeting other women who ride in a supportive environment, we encourage you to attend our next Ladies Only Garage Party. This one will be hosted by Harley-Davidson of Greensboro on Thursday, March 25th from 6:30-8:30pm. Visit our Events Calendar to learn more details. To RSVP please contact Amy Jacobson at 336-273-1101 or ajacobson@hdofgreensboro.com. We hope to see you soon!

Ride to Daytona
March 4, 2010 Harley-Davidson of Greensboro: It’s 7am, the temperature is 29 degrees and geared up Harley riders are beginning to gather in the parking lot. Their bikes packed for the trip, and tanks full of gas, 13 bikers enjoy coffee and donuts and anticipate their all-day ride to Daytona. Mark Wheelihan, owner of Harley-Davidson of Greensboro, High Point and Wolf Creek, has not been able to make the trip to Daytona for the past few years, as he and his wife Tara have been busy with their growing family. Now that their youngest child is 14 months, Mark and Tara decided this was a great opportunity to kick off the riding season with several members of our Harley family.
Mark Davidson, Jim Anselmi, Ron Stoll, Dan Blackman, Chip Hanes, Wayne Hanes, Dale Thompson, Mike Reed, Pat Robinson, Bill Moore, Chris Anderson and Wayne White all joined Mark on this Ride to Daytona.
Leaving Harley-Davidson of Greensboro about 7:30am, this group of experienced riders didn’t waste any time. They had a great ride down and only stopped to refuel when necessary. As the day went on it “warmed up” a bit to a still cool 54 degrees. Just before reaching Daytona, the group split up and went in different directions toward their respective hotels. All arrived at their destinations around 6pm.
Although the group spent the majority of the weekend enjoying individual pastimes and experiences, Mark and Tara hosted a get together at their condo for everyone on Saturday evening. This provided a great opportunity for everyone to share their stories about the weekend and get to know other riders they may not have known well prior to this trip. After a great weekend in Daytona with lots of bike events, parties, riding and possibly more that can’t be shared, everyone made it back to North Carolina safely by Sunday evening.
Mark is looking forward to leading more rides in the upcoming months. Keep your calendars open for the next overnight trip currently being planned for the end of April.

Here's Your Second Chance
Brunswick Stew
The Brunswick Stew that the High Point HOG chapter held on February 20th at Harley-Davidson of High Point was great, the only problem was we didn’t fix enough. The stew was so popular we ran out within the first hour. With that said, we decided to host a second Brunswick Stew on the 27th of March to coinside with the store's Open House and Demo Day. We invite you to come by Harley-Davidson of High Point at 12 noon and enjoy a wonderful Southern tradition. $4.00 for a bowl of stew with crackers and a drink. $6.00 for a quart. All proceeds will benefit local charities such as Horizon's Residential Care Center and Brenner Children's Hospital over the upcoming year.
We suggest you come early so you don’t miss out.
Thank you for all your support,
Dennis Alley
Director, High Point HOG Group

It Was Cold! It Was Wet! And It Was Fun!
February 27, 2010 the water temperature is 42 degrees, the wind chill is around 36 degrees and people are dressed up to jump in that icy water. 183 jumpers participated in the 10th annual Guilford County Sheriff’s Department Polar Plunge for Special Olympics held at the WET & WILD EMERALD POINTE WATER PARK in Greensboro, NC. At 10:30 am the park opened for all to come in and see displays from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Guilford County Animal Control, Guilford County Emergency Services, Guilford County Fire Protection Association, Harley Davidson of Greensboro, Cricket, and Piedmont Orthopedic. Food was provided for the jumpers by Biscuitville, Starbuck’s and Logan’s Roadhouse, once again this year. 50/50 tickets were sold during the event, and donated prizes from Dobros Pizza, Triad Lanes, Gate City Lanes, and GOT SUN tanning were given away. The 50/50 raised $406.00 and the winner, Don Michaux, donated his $203.00 winnings back to Special Olympics, THANKS Don! DJ Bo Pascal of Extreme Productions provided music and the sound system during the event while Helicam Aerial Media Services videoed this event from a remote control helicopter.
A costume contest was held and the outfits had to be seen to be believed. Cambda Chi from UNCG was awarded the 1st place trophy for their creative costumes as favorite cereal box characters. Our very own Greensboro Harley Owners Group received 2nd place as a hysterical Snow White and the 7 biker dwarfs. The contest was judged by Miss North Carolina International Julie Tesh, Harley Davidson of Greensboro Spokes Model Jade Bullins, and 3 of the HOOTER’s of Greensboro girls.
Several speakers were on hand from the North Carolina Special Olympics, as was Sheriff BJ Barnes whose support of this event is greatly appreciated. Divers from the Guilford County Sheriff Underwater Recovery Team provided safety and assistance as the jumpers plunged into the cold water, rewarding the large crowd of onlookers with hilarious facial expressions. These brave souls were from Biscuitville, Piedmont Orthopedic, Murphy Wainer, Southeastern Radiology, Eastern Guilford High School, Eastern Guilford Middle School, Greensboro Harley Owners Group, Cambda Chi, Weaver Academy, Southeast Guilford High School ROTC, Southwest Middle School and other organizations. DMJ also plunged after receiving the award for most money raised by a group. Their contribution was over $10,000.
The 10th Annual Guilford County Sheriff’s Polar Plunge for North Carolina Special Olympics raised $43,459.52 this year. I would like thank everyone who donated money and volunteered their time to make this such a successful event. I look forward to next year, and hope to see you there!

The Wait Is Almost Over....
As most of you know our Randleman Road exit coming off of bus. 40 west has been closed for about a year and a half due to construction. We are thrilled to announce that we are only weeks away from a brand new completed bridge and exit ramp. The North Carolina Department of Transportation assures us they are in the final stages of completing the bridge and exit ramp reconstruction. We want to thank everyone for being patient through this construction period and continuing to visit our Greensboro store via alternate routes. We will be sure to let you know when the exit is officially open.
