Proper
care
and
regular
cleaning
will
help
extend
the
life
of
your
helmet.
Some
steps
to
help
maximize
the
life
of
your
helmet:
1.
Keep
chemicals
away,
and
keep
the
helmet
out
of
excessive
heat.
Both
could
affect
the
performance
of
a
helmet’s
protective
properties.
2.
Before
riding,
always
check
a
helmet
to
ensure:
the
chin-strap
is
not
frayed,
the
visor
screws
are
tight,
and
the
face
shield
is
tightly
affixed.
3.
Avoid
hanging
helmets
from
a
motorcycle’s
mirror,
turn
signal
or
sissy
bar,
as
this
can
easily
damage
the
EPS
impact
absorbing
liner
if
knocked
off.
4.
Keep
your
helmet
clean.
Use
only
mild
soap
and
warm
water
to
wash
the
outer
shell.
If
your
helmet
has
been
dropped,
has
visible
damage,
has
been
exposed
to
chemical
or
extreme
heat,
or
you
have
had
it
for
3
to
5
years
Helmet
manufacturers
and
the
SNELL
Foundation
recommend
replacing
your
helmet.
