Spicer's & WUPS Teams Up For Boat Swap

One again, Spicer's Boat City and WUPS teamed up to put together the "Water Toy Swap Meet"

Local area residents were able to display their boat or personal watercrafts, canoes and other watercraft here at Spicer's. They were then able to sell the boat to anyone and keep 100% of the sale.

Each swapper did have to give a donation to the Roscommon County Relay For Life.

"It really provided nice traffic to our store and gave folks a chance to put their boats in front of more traffic then they would if it sat on the side of the road," states Mike Trent, Fishing Boat manager at Spicer's, "plus it really helps out the local Realy For Life."

Watch for the swap meet again next April!

Hey Jermey,

QUESTION: I have a question about my Polaris ATV if I let off the throttle the engine quits running?

ANSWER: Hey Steve thanks for the question. What it sounds like is the throttle free play needs to be adjusted, sometimes when this happens it causes the ETC switch to shut the engine down. As always Steve you can bring it in to Spicer's and we can help you with this

Boaters Safety At Spicer's

Boater safety class went off without a hitch at Spicer's boat city on Sunday May 2nd. Spicer's takes pride in being a boating safety partner with the local Sheriff department and the many community members that participate in the boaters safety classes.

Michigan conservation officers and Michigan county sheriffs encourage all persons operating boats in Michigan to enroll in a boating safety course.
The following rules apply to boaters:

A person who is 12 but less than 14 may operate a personal watercraft if he or she obtained a boating safety certificate before January 1, 1999.

Persons born after December 31, 1978 shall not operate a personal watercraft unless they obtain a boating safety certificate.

The operators of a personal watercraft must carry their boating safety certificate and display it upon the demand of a peace officer.

Hey all you fisherman,
It is walleye season and the bite is on!!!!!!

We have gotten walleyes in as little as 5' of water to 12', leaches have been the ticket, 1/8 oz lead head jig under a slip bobber. I had a report of jigs with minnows today under a slip bobber.

We have been watching some guys trolling and picking a few walleyes up on crank baits. Still getting some crappies in the canals along with the blue gills, minnows for the crappies and a small hook and a leaf worm for the blue gills.

Lots of largemouth bass in the canals as well although the season hasn't opened for those, still fun to catch and release one. Some perch coming from Higgins Lake, although they are on the small side. No reports from Lake St. Helen.

We need the wind to die down a little, it has been rough fishing lately.

Good luck! and take a kid fishing next time.
