There's only one thing better than getting ready to ride your Honda, and that's learning how to do it safely. We want to help you to make the right decisions about your riding. We want to help you choose the right CRF for your skill level, assist you in making the right judgments when riding and determine the proper helmet and equipment that will keep you as safe as possible.

Remember: safety starts with the rider. Read your owner's manual and safety materials.

Be a Responsible Rider

Riding a motorcycle is an exercise in responsibility—to yourself, to others, to the environment and to the sport. So remember: wear a helmet, eye protection and protective clothing whenever you ride. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol, inspect your bike before riding, read your owner’s manual, and see your local Honda dealer concerning reimbursement through the Honda Rider’s Club of America for Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider training. Always obey local laws, use common sense, and respect the rights of others when you ride. Make sure you have a proper license when riding on public roads, and never modify your motorcycle’s exhaust system.

Safety Tips for Young Riders

1. Always ride with adult supervision.
2. Obey all warning labels on your motorcycle/ATV.
3. Obey all safety rules set by the manufacturer and your adult supervision.
4. Always wear a DOT approved helmet, eye protection, gloves, long pants with knee pads, long sleeved shirt or jacket, over the ankle boots and chest protectors.
5. Learn proper mounting and dismounting.
6. Master the controls with adult supervision.
7. Learn the names of your motorcycle/atv parts and controls.
8. Always inspect your vehicle before riding.
9. Always keep his or her feet on the footpegs while riding.
10. Know your riding area and ensure it is free of obstacles and under no circumstances should the surface be concrete or asphalt.
11. Always ensure good vision through eye protection, adequate side/peripheral vision and well ventilated to prevent fogging.
12. Be able to judge the speed of objects.
13. Know distance in terms of feet, yard and miles.
14. Pick up your Parents, Youngsters & Off-Highway Motorcycle/ATV Guides at Honda of Winston Salem Sales Department.
15. Never ride alone!

About Trade Ins
Honda of Winston-Salem is always happy to consider trade-ins, and we also purchase vehicles as well as accept them on consignment. Whenever you are considering making a new purchase, an upgrade, or when a vehicle is no longer used, we are here to help you make the best decision. Here are a few considerations to help you better understand our used-vehicle policies.

Before accepting a used vehicle, we need to inspect it. Usually, that means that the customer needs to bring it to the store for an inspection by our staff. In special situations, we can arrange to send someone to inspect a vehicle, if bringing it to the store is not possible.

In assigning a value to a vehicle, we take many factors into account, including the published fair trade in values of the vehicle, the condition, and current market conditions. During off seasons, and when inventory is high, we may offer less than at peak times, because we anticipate having to stock the vehicle for a longer period of time.

One common misconception that customers have is that adding accessories increases the value of a vehicle. In cases where a buyer wants the accessories, they may increase the value, but often potential buyers are not interested in them, so we generally do not consider accessories in determining the value of a trade.

Once we have determined a value for a vehicle, we may offer to accept it as a trade in, to buy it, or to place it on consignment. Many times, customers expect us to offer the same price for a trade in as for purchasing it, however, we base prices in the context of a total deal, so while the price for a trade may be the same as for a purchase, we often offer different amounts depending on how a deal affects our inventory.

When we offer to place a vehicle on consignment, we agree on a price with the customer, and they sign a cinsignment agreement. We then place the vehicle in our showroom, and often advertise it as well. When a consignment bike sells, we pay the customer the agreed upon price.

We hope this article helps customers understand our trade in policies.
