Under
greying
skies,
with
what
was
starting
to
look
like
more
than
just
an
idle
threat
of
rain,
we
gathered
at
the
shop
for
a
pre-ride
brief
before
our
10
am
departure.
18
bikes
in
all
including
7
lady
riders!
A
good
turnout,
considering
the
clouds.
All
safely
on
the
highway
we
headed
around
the
city
by-pass
eventually
making
our
way
onto
scenic
Grey
Road
1,
following
the
coastal
road
up
to
Wiarton.
A
quick
coffee
break
and
gas
stop,
for
the
Sportster
riders
among
us,
and
we
carried
on
our
way.
The
weather
had
turned
on
us
but
a
slight
drizzle
wasn't
going
to
dampen
our
enthusiasm.
Onward!
Just
outside
of
Wiarton
we
turned
off
toward
Colpoys
Bay,
along
Hwy
9
through
Lion's
Head
and
on
to
Hwy
29.
This
route
may
have
been
a
little
longer
than
going
straight
up
Hwy
6
but
the
roads
more
than
made
up
for
it.
With
a
series
of
S-bends
and
lingering
curves,
not
to
mention
the
splendid
scenery,
I
would
have
been
more
than
happy
to
play
all
day,
but
Tobermory
beckoned.
Finally
we
took
the
last
stretch
of
Hwy
6
into
Tobermory,
a
bustling
harbour
village
in
the
summer
months
with
an
abundance
of
restaurants,
bars
and
shops,
not
to
mention
the
countless
outdoor
activities
on
both
land
and
water.
Once
our
bikes
were
all
safely
parked
we
headed
off,
lead
by
our
stomachs,
to
the
Crowsnest
Pub
&
Restaurant
for
some
well
deserved
fish
'n'
chips.
With
bellies
full,
we
headed
off
to
look
around
the
various
stores
and
boutiques
along
the
harbour
and
then
it
was
back
to
the
bikes.
Another
quick
gas
stop
for
the
Sportsters
and
we
were
headed
for
home.
A
straight
run
back
to
Hepworth
was
made
a
little
interesting
by
an
eager
member
of
the
four-wheeled
fraternity
trying
to
join
our
flock.
Fortunately
Ken
made
a
sterling
effort
in
managing
to
shepherd
him
back
into
his
place.
Nicely
done!
Our
last
stop
together
was
at
Tim
Horton's
in
Hepworth,
a
chance
for
Mike
to
remind
us
to
keep
going
past
his
house
when
he
turns
off.
I
guess
Leanne
hadn't
counted
on
cooking
supper
for
quite
so
many!
One
last
gas
stop
for
Michelle's
Sportster
and
it
was
handshakes
and
farewells
before
leaving
in
our
separate
ways.
Thanks
to
all
who
came
along
for
the
ride
and
once
again
a
special
thanks
to
Mike
Whalen
for
another
cracking
route.....
Cheers!
Ian
Next
ride,
August
15th.
Coast
Line
Cruisin'....
see
ya
then!
