Chapter Ride - 50/50 Rule
The 50/50 Rule is very basic: if the outside temperature is below 50 degrees; or we have a forecast of precipitation of 50% or more then the ride is cancelled. This will allow everyone to know that status before departing for the ride. However, don’t let this stop you from riding if you so desire.

Listed above are the 2011 Officer nominees for Ozark Mountain Chapter of Lebanon. Officer elections will be held at the November Chapter Gathering so please come join us. At this time we will also be collecting the Chapter Challenge booklets and will have those tallied and present the winners at the Christmas Party. Don’t forget we have the L.O.H. Chili Cook-Off on November 6th starting at 6:30 p.m. at Ozark Harley Davidson and the Fashion Show being put on by the dealership. Make your favorite chili recipe and see if you can beat either of the past 2 years winners :) and enjoy a wonderful Fashion Show with fashions for the Fall and Winter season.

We have started a new list for name badges. Get your name on the list now. We need 12 badges for an order. Name badges are $8.00 each. Let an officer know what name you want on your badge and we will put you on the list.

Mystery Ride
Saturday, October 23rd
Winners of the Mystery Ride were Ron & Sandy Gentry, who returned with the most correct answers. Riders learned interesting facts about Lebanon as they ventured around town to answer the Mystery Ride questions.

November 2010 Newsletter

A Note From Your Director
I hope everyone got to take advantage of the great weather over the past month, and got in some good riding.
We saw several members at Bikes Blues and Bar-B-Q at Fayetteville, Arkansas. In case you didn’t know, this event is third largest in the U.S. and is a lot closer than either Sturgis or Daytona. If you have never been to this, you might want to give it a try. This is a family type of environment that does not have the notoriety of some of the others. If you go be sure to make hotel reservations well in advance!
Brian took The Changing of the Leaves Ride in a new direction this year. A different route and destination, which ended at Fat Daddy’s in Forsythe Mo.
We led a group of eight to Caveman Zip at Meremac Caverns in Stanton Mo. for a zipline tour. What a blast! Suspended from two cables, moving through the tree tops at speeds of up to 60 mph and between 50 to 90 feet above the ground. Walking the swinging and swaying wood and cable suspension bridges between the towers, was a bit of a challenge. Everyone who went had a good time and would do it again.
There was a good turnout for the Road Kill Picnic. Chapter provided the drinks and the meat. Instead of the usual hamburgers and hot dogs, we had beef brisket, pulled beef and pulled pork. All bar-b-q flavored. I want to thank the members, who brought more than enough delicious food for everyone to share. Instead of door prizes we had two games, which required couples. The prize bags had something for the male and something for the female partner. If you think you have good coordination, then try the plank walk. You and a partner stand on 2x6 boards with ropes fastened to them. Together pick up the plank and step forward. Do this for 50 feet while staying in your lane. Easy right? The other game was critters in a pen. This game had the rider doing the usual slow ride on the bike while the partner threw small stuffed animals into a container. Whoever had the most animals in won. The rider had the easy part. The chapter photo was also taken at this event. See what you missed by not being there!
We had the second round of nominations for next years chapter officers. You need to attend Novembers meeting to vote for who you want leading the chapter next year.
I want to thank Karen DeCastro and JR Doer for getting everything done for the Road Kill picnic! Also thanks to our sponsors for letting us use the pavilion. Thank you Jim for doing the lanes for the games!
Ride Safe Ride Often Enjoy Life
Bill

We are so excited for the Christmas Party this year and hope that you will be as well. If you would like to attend, please make sure that you sign up at the November chapter gathering or at the dealership with Melissa, Jenna, Katrina or Ashley. Cost is $5 per person. Food catered by Dickey’s BBQ as well as tea, water and soda. If you would like to bring a desert, please feel free. Deadline for signing up is November 21st. If you have any questions, please email Tammie Black at tamksu@hotmail.com Hope to see you all there :)

Assistant Director's Note
Greetings to one and all. Thanks to all who came out for our Annual Road Kill Picnic, I feel that it was a success and hope that y'all did too. I would like to take his opportunity to Thank Allen Crawley and Mike O'Rourke for helping clean up the Pavillion and taking out the trash and such. "Kudos" guys and Thanks a bunch. I'd also like to take this chance to say a huge Thank You to Jack and Neal for all the hard work they put in on getting the Pavillion ready for us. I guess since I'm in such a grateful mood I would like to say "Thanks" to all my fellow Officer's and our Sponsors for all the hard work they put in to make this Chapter what it is. Finally I'd like to "Thank" all the members because without you there would be no Chapter. I have greatly enjoyed serving the Chapter as your Asst. Director and even though I've made a blunder or two (which were gently pointed out to me by our Sponsors) for which I have apologized, all in all I hope that the members have been happy with the job I did this past year, I definitely look forward to being able to serve the Chapter again next year (2011) in whatever capacity you see fit to elect me to, if any. Now, with that being said I think overall we have a pretty good group of Nominees for the various Officer's positions in the Chapter. Remember that our elections will be held at our next Chapter Meeting November 21st 11a.m. at the Pavillion and if ya ain't there to vote then ya can't gripe about the outcome...LOL. Seriously though I expect to have a great turn-out for the Elections. O.K. now that's enough about the Political stuff. Everyone needs to remember our Chili Cook-Off and Fashion Show at the Dealership Nov. 6th, Then don't forget that you need to sign-up for our Christmas Party ( Dec.4th ) before or at the next Chapter Meeting (Cost is $5.00 per person) our Party Planning Committee has assured us that it will be a Party to remember, also Dec. 4th don't forget pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Santa has guaranteed he'll be fat and jolly by then... You Go Santa!!!  Well, I don't want to run on to long and bore y'all so, till next Live,
Laugh, Love, and Ride Safe.
J.R. Doerr
Asst. Director

Yes, the Ozark Harley-Davidson Fashion Show and the Ozark Mountain H.O.G. Chapter of Lebanon Chili Cook-Off are on the same night—at the same time. Come and taste some spicy chili and view some hot fashions. Join us at Ozark Harley-Davidson on Saturday, November 6th and add a little spice to your evening.

Changing of the Leaves Ride
On 9 October about 30 of us took a great ride down to Forsyth, MO. Although the leaves hadn’t quite changed to the beautiful colors we see here in South Central Missouri, the ride was great and the scenery was spectacular. In those 30 people were quite a few first time riders with the chapter. Welcome to you and I hope you had a good time. It is always nice to see new folks riding with us. The riding season is slowly coming to a close, but there is always next year.
This ride is a particular favorite of mine. I have been the Road Captain for the past 5 years and will continue to do so. This year we strayed from the usual destination/route and came up with a great ride through the Ozark Mountains down to Forsyth and had lunch at Two Fat Daddy’s BBQ. If you went you can attest to the good service and huge portions. The guy sitting next to me (I won’t mention any names) gave it a valiant effort but he couldn’t get through it all. All in all, good friends, good roads, good food and a great ride. I look forward to next year and maybe we can pick the exact day the leaves are at their best.

May The Force Be With You,

The Secretary's Corner
The October meeting was held on October 17th @ Ozark Harley Davidson Pavilion. We had 1 new member, Mike Jones and 5 guests, Barbara Jones, Mrs. Louise Melton (Lisa O'Rourke's mom), Sammie and Korky Sundquist (Randy’s parents) and Carson Barbo. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as written in the newsletter. Treasurer’s report was given by Karen DeCastro. We had a beginning balance of $3220.67 with deposits of $871.72, expenses of $781.36 leaving an ending balance of $3311.03. A motion was made and seconded to accept the Treasurer’s report.
Bill DeCastro announced the Zip line trip to Merrimack Caverns on 16 October had 7 members in attendance. Members were able to go down various zip line paths 5 times. From the members attending this event it sounds like they had a great time. JR presented certificates to members who were present at the meeting for volunteering their time at the State Rally. Guy Daniels and Lee Brown have planned a Mystery ride on 23 October with kickstands up at 11:00 and the ride will take between 2-3 hours to complete. Richard reminded everyone that the leaves are falling and when they are damp from rain or dew in the mornings, they can be slick so slow down on corners. Also be watchful of nuts or other debris on the road. These can be just as dangerous when your tires hit them if you are not prepared. On 6 November we will be holding our 3rd Annual LOH Chili Cook-off beginning at 6:30 pm in the customer lounge of the dealership. Bring your favorite chili recipe ready to be sampled by all in attendance. Best chili brings home the plaque this year; Condiments for your chili will be provide so all you have to do is bring your chili and enter it. The Holiday Fashion Show is also taking place at the dealership beginning at 6:45 on 6 November. This will be a good time as you get to sample chili and get some holiday gift ideas watching the fashions being modeled and offered at the dealership. A reminder for pictures with Santa on 4 December from 11:00-2:00 at the pavilion . Chapter members Randy and Ingrid Sundquist will be dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Beginning at 6:30 pm on 4 December, we will be having our Chapter Christmas party in the Pavilion. The theme this year will be “A Winter Wonderland”. Dinner will be at 7pm with Skinny Improv (a comedy group from Springfield, MO) beginning at 8pm. There are games, music and lots of time to visit with other members and friends planned for the evening. This looks to be the best Christmas Party the chapter has had yet. There will be no bar set up so if you wish to partake, bring your own drink of choice. A list of hotels in the area will be at the dealership and shuttle service to hotels will be provided by non-drinking members of the chapter. The sign-up sheet will be at the next meeting or you can let Melissa or Jenna know at the dealership if you will be attending. There will be a cost of $5 per person. Food will be catered from Dickie’s BBQ in Lebanon, so please sign up for this event if you plan to attend so we can have an accurate headcount for food.
Remember to bring your Chapter Challenge books and pictures with you to this meeting as they must be turned in to receive credit at this meeting. We will be voting on next year’s officers as well, so think about who you would like to have running the chapter next year and make your vote count.

50/50 was won by Gale Reedy
The plank walk was won by Randy and Ingrid Sundquist and the slow ride was won by Mike Jones. Congratulations!

The meeting was adjourned at 11:45.
