| BACK
IN
THE
SADDLE
AGAIN
... |
I
finally
got
back
in
the
saddle
five
years
ago.
Of
course
it
had
to
be
a
Harley.
I
grew
up
saying
(like
most
guys
and
some
girls,
too)
“I’m
gonna’
have
a
Harley
someday.”
I
always
rode
when
I
was
younger;
starting
around
the
time
I
was
nine
years
old
‘til
I
turned
twenty.
After
that
I
got
married,
had
kids;
you
know
the
rest
of
the
typical
story.
When
I
turned
forty
a
couple
of
things
happened
to
me.
First,
I
was
forty!
I
told
myself,
“I’m
tired
of
always
just
talking
about
it;
I’m
gonna’
get
myself
a
Harley.”
Second,
I
was
going
through
a
divorce.
I
really
needed
to
free
my
mind
during
this
time
of
my
life.
So
I
went
to
my
local
dealership
(Las
Vegas
Harley-Davidson)
and
bought
my
first
Harley,
a
2000
XL1200C
Sportster.
It
already
had
pipes
on
it
and
was
fixed
up
just
perfect
for
me.
I
originally
thought
I
would
just
ride
it
on
the
weekends.
Well,
my
truck
ended
up
sitting
in
the
driveway
for
the
next
three
months!!
I
didn’t
need
it
anymore.
I
chose
to
ride
full
time.
The
freedom
that
comes
from
riding
is
hard
to
explain
to
a
non-rider.
I’m
always
asked,
“Aren’t
you
scared
to
ride
in
this
town?”
I
tell
them,
“No,
I
feel
safer
on
my
bike
than
in
a
car
any
day.”
After
many
happy
miles
on
my
Sportster,
I
have
now
moved
up
to
a
Dyna
Low
Rider
and
just
love
it.
For
me,
riding
is
not
just
a
feeling
of
freedom,
but
rather
it’s
a
very
real
way
to
experience
all
of
life,
everyday.
The
actual
feel
of
the
road
through
the
handlebars,
the
comforting
rumble
of
the
engine
through
your
seat,
all
of
your
senses
tuned
in
to
your
surroundings
are
all
very
real.
The
sights,
sounds
and
smells
you
experience
on
a
bike
are
things
you
never
get
to
experience
caged
in
a
car.
The
feeling
of
the
wind
in
your
face,
the
smell
of
nature
in
the
air
and
the
close
connection
to
the
road
are
all
life
experiences
I
live
to
ride
for.
After
so
many
years
of
riding,
I
now
work
as
a
salesperson
at
that
same
dealership
I
bought
my
bikes
from.
You
can
say
I
was
like
a
fish
being
thrown
back
into
the
water
and
swam
like
hell
once
I
was
in.
I
now
own
five
motorcycles
and
I’m
“free”
on
a
daily
basis.
You’ve
seen
the
t-shirt
on
others
that
says,
“If
I
have
to
explain,
you
wouldn’t
understand.”
Well,
I
think
some
of
you
do.
Spring
is
here,
come
see
me
and
I’ll
be
glad
to
get
you
back
in
the
saddle
too.
