| SPORTSTER
1200
CUSTOM |
| This
machine
takes
over
your
thoughts! |
|
Something
about
the
1200
Custom
pulls
you
in.
At
first
glance,
you
see
it
in
the
swept-back
handlebar,
pullback
riser
and
bullet-style
headlight.
But
you
can’t
quite
put
your
finger
on
it.
Then
you
check
out
the
wheels.
Chrome
Slotted
Disc
with
wide
tire
in
back.
Laced
wheel
up
front.
Center
stage
sits
the
4.5-gallon
tank.
In
the
saddle,
you
feel
it
in
the
forward
foot
controls
and
low
seat.
But
thumb
the
starter
to
the
rubber-mounted,
black
powder-coated,
chrome-covered
Evolution®
engine
and
there’s
simply
no
mistaking
what
made
the
1200
Custom
legendary.
One
ride
and
you’ll
know.
The
spirit
of
the
Sportster®
definitely
lives
on.

Tech
Tips
for
Lower
Long-Term
Maintenance
Costs |
| By:
Chuck
Shelley |
1.
Check
tire
pressure
before
every
ride.
Keeping
tire
pressure
at
the
recommended
PSI
prolongs
tire
life
by
preventing
uneven
wear
and
“cupping”.
2.
Change
engine
oil
regularly.
Engine
oil
cools,
cleans,
and
lubricates
engine
parts,
preventing
long
term
wear
and
tear.
So,
like
I
always
say,
“You
can’t
change
your
oil
too
much.”
3.
Keep
your
primary
chain
in
adjustment.
Improperly
adjusted
primary
chains
can
lead
to
a
multitude
of
issues,
including
oil
leaks
and
clutch
problems.
4.
Periodically
lubricate
“the
small
things.”
This
includes
locks,
latches,
hinges,
and
keyholes.
Nobody
realizes
how
irritating
and
expensive
it
is
to
replace
these
until
it’s
too
late.
5.
Wash
your
bike
on
a
regular
basis.
Not
only
will
you
gain
bragging
rights,
but
dirt
and
road
gunk
can
cause
havoc
on
exposed
components
like
brakes,
belts,
chains,
pulleys
and
rotors.
