Welcome
to
the
Apache
Newsletter,
for
October
2011.
The
Heat
is
starting
to
let
up.
The
mornings
are
cooling
down
and
the
afternoons
are
becoming
bearable.
Its
time
to
get
out
and
ride!
Make
a
plan
to
go
out
and
take
advantage
of
the
nice
weather.
this
is
arguably
the
best
time
of
the
year,
so
get
out
and
ride! |

|
|
|
| Preventative
maintenance |
| Saving
you
money
in
the
long
run |
As
Always,
Preventive
Maintenance
Goes
a
Long
Way
When
it
comes
to
your
ride,
a
little
observation
goes
a
very
long
way
toward
reducing
large
bills
at
the
shop.
We've
all
read
in
our
owner's
manuals
that
we
should
be
performing
daily
safety-checks
in
addition
to
our
regular
service
intervals.
At
the
shop,
it
is
very
plain
to
see
that
most
just
never
take
a
moment
to
sit
down
in
front
of
the
bike
and
LOOK.
When
you
are
eye
level
with
your
bike,
you
should
look
at:
Tail
Light
and
Brake
Light
operation
Headlight
and
Turn
Signal
operation
Fork
seals,
looking
for
oil
on
the
back
sides
of
the
forks
Fork
tubes,
is
the
smooth
surface
on
the
tube
pocked
with
rust,
dirt
or
dings
that
cause
leaks?
Brake/Clutch
Fluid,
is
it
low
or
leaking?
If
it
is
low,
be
sure
to
check
your
pad
wear
because
the
more
they
wear,
the
lower
the
fluid
level
will
appear
Brake
Pads,
is
the
pad
material
thinner
than
a
few
millimeters?
Tread
on
your
tires,
are
the
wear
marks
flush
with
the
tread
channels?
Do
you
have
any
punctures?
What
is
the
tire
pressure?
Missing/loose
bolts,
in
your
footrests,
brake
pedal,
shifter,
side
stands
Fluid
leaks
are
common,
but
usually
very
easy
fixes
and
dangerous
to
allow
to
worsen
Chain
and
sprocket,
looking
for
wear
and
chain
tension.
Excessive
chain
tension
can
lead
to
uneven
chain
wear,
improper
shifting,
pulsing
ride
and
strange
vibrations.
Check
your
battery.
Make
sure
the
connections
are
clean,
tight
and
free
of
corrosion
Periodically
you
should
also:
Clean
&
wax
the
bike,
this
protects
the
paint
and
chrome
from
the
elements
Use
a
leather
cleaner
on
your
seats.
The
Arizona
sun
is
unforgiving
on
your
seats.
Use
a
leather
cleaning
product
periodically
to
keep
them
fresh.
Of
course
always
be
sure
to
follow
your
vehicle's
scheduled
maintenance,
and
be
sure
to
take
it
in
to
the
shop
if
you
cannot
fix
it
yourself! |

|
| Know
the
Law! |
| Arizona
statutes
on
traffic
lanes |

Lets
face
it,
getting
a
ticket
is
not
fun.
That
is
why
it
is
important
to
know
the
law
to
avoid
getting
in
trouble!
In
2011
the
Arizona
Legislature
updated
some
of
our
motorcycle
laws.
Here
is
the
official
section
from
the
Arizona
Revised
Statutes
A.R.S.
§
28-903
(2011)
§
28-903.
Operation
of
motorcycle
on
laned
roadway;
exceptions
A.
All
motorcycles
are
entitled
to
the
full
use
of
a
lane.
A
person
shall
not
drive
a
motor
vehicle
in
such
a
manner
as
to
deprive
any
motorcycle
of
the
full
use
of
a
lane.
This
subsection
does
not
apply
to
motorcycles
operated
two
abreast
in
a
single
lane.
B.
The
operator
of
a
motorcycle
shall
not
overtake
and
pass
in
the
same
lane
occupied
by
the
vehicle
being
overtaken.
C.
A
person
shall
not
operate
a
motorcycle
between
the
lanes
of
traffic
or
between
adjacent
rows
of
vehicles.
D.
A
person
shall
not
operate
a
motorcycle
more
than
two
abreast
in
a
single
lane.
E.
Subsections
B
and
C
do
not
apply
to
peace
officers
in
the
performance
of
their
official
duties.

Know
the
law
and
avoid
a
ticket!
Or
if
an
officer
pulls
you
over
for
lane
violations,
you
will
be
able
to
say,"But
officer
I
was
adhering
to
Arizona
Revised
Statute
section
28-903
when
I
overtook
that
vehicle."
Of
course
we
don't
recommend
being
a
smart
"a"
in-front
of
an
officer,
that
just
isn't
cool. |
