Harvest
Tips
With
the
great
weather
that
we
have
had
over
the
past
week,
harvest
is
progressing
very
well.
The
cereal
crops
are
well
underway
and
many
have
been
working
on
canola.
As
we
are
in
a
transition
period
you
may
find
yourself
changing
crops,
depending
on
what
is
ready
to
go.
Hopefully
these
tips
will
help
with
the
changeover.
Straight
Cut
Head
-
If
you
are
experiencing
poor
cutting
quality
or
are
having
knife
breaking
issues,
make
sure
to
check
the
Hold
Down
adjustment.
If
the
Hold
Downs
are
not
adjusted
properly
the
knife
will
ride
up
causing
vibration
and
will
eventually
break.
This
adjustment
is
more
important
in
flex
headers.
Grain
Tank
Sample
Quality
-
If
you
are
not
satisfied
with
your
Grain
Tank
Sample,
be
sure
to
physically
check
the
bottom
sieve
adjustment
and
calibration.
When
doing
sieve
adjustments,
make
sure
that
you
are
always
starting
from
the
closed
position.
Also
make
sure
that
you
have
the
fan
running
to
prevent
grain
from
being
pinched
in
the
sieve
and
not
closing
properly.
Feeder
House
Setting
For
Canola
-
To
get
optimum
performance
you
will
need
to
make
sure
that
you
are
using
a
32
Tooth
Sprocket
on
the
feeder
house
back
shaft,
feed
accelerator
should
be
in
high
speed.
As
the
straw
dries
more,
you
will
be
able
to
move
the
feed
accelerator
into
low
speed,
which
will
prevent
premature
straw
shattering.
