Burgos
Military
Service:
Andres
Burgos,
29,
a
Marine
Veteran,
served
in
Japan,
the
Philippines,
Singapore,
Haiti,
and
Guantanamo
Bay.
He
obtained
the
rank
of
Sergeant
before
being
honorably
discharged
from
the
US
Marine
Corps
in
2007.
His
awards
include
the
Navy/Marine
Corps
Achievement
Medal
(4th
award),
Good
Conduct
Medal
(2nd),
National
Defense
Medal,
Sea
Service
Deployment
Ribbon
(3rd),
Navy
Unit
Citation,
Meritorious
Unit
Citation.
Why
he
needs
our
assistance:
On
June
29,
2011,
Sergeant
Burgos
was
involved
in
a
serious
motorcycle
accident.
He
was
treated
at
UMass
Medical
Center
in
Worcester.
His
right
leg
and
one
finger
were
amputated.
Sgt.
Burgos
will
require
additional
surgery
in
the
coming
months.
Andres
is
an
employee
at
MOM’South
and
also
has
plenty
of
ties
to
the
local
community
and
the
region.
