Insider Scoop:
The Saskatoon Martin Motor Sports Team!
Happy Holidays from your Saskatchewan Martin Motor Sports division! We are happy to announce that the Saskatoon shop is under new management and has a couple of new faces. My name is Kelly Thompson and I am the new sales rep, and our team consists of Randy Malinoski our new General Manager, and Brian Button our Parts and Service Manager with Rich Harder and Elliot Dignean heading up the service department. We are all really excited to part of the Martin Motor Sports family and looking forward to a great year!

Unlike Alberta, we are still awaiting to be covered in snow and be out on our sleds. While we may not sell snowmobiles here at the Saskatoon location, we are a Triton Trailers preferred dealer and can help you out with all your trailer needs! We’ve got everything from 10x8 Tilt Trailers to fully enclosed cargo trailers, and you can even custom design an enclosed trailer to have everything you could ever want! Whether it’s custom cabinetry, a toolbox, fridge, microwave, entertainment system, couch, or simply heat and a work bench, your options are endless with Triton. Visit martinmotorsports.ca to start building your dream trailer today!

We are also super excited to be the exclusive MasterCraft dealer for Saskatchewan. We have lots of new 2012s in-stock and more are arriving daily. Whether you can’t wait to get out and surf, wakeboard, water ski, tube or just cruise, nothing makes us happier than to match you up with the unit of your dreams. We all know how short our precious Canadian summers are, so let’s start getting you prepped for that first day on the water right away!

We also carry Manitou pontoon boats. Manitou has been synonymous with luxury performance pontoons for 25 years, and 2012 is no different. With tons of different seating layouts to choose from, as well as length and engine options, you can cruise at 5 mph or 50 mph…it’s up to you! And not to be left out, Manitou is unsurpassed in safety, stability and handling with their patented V-Toon technology, so be sure to visit manitouboats.com to see how this incredible feat of engineering works. Other super cool options for this year include custom teak flooring or fibreglass rear deck, blue LED underwater lighting, a new dash and so much more! One of the things we’re most excited about is the new blue LED interior track, dash and cup holder lighting on certain models- these boats look incredible on the water at night! If you enjoy entertaining friends and family, are a fan of dinner cruises, or are just looking for that wow factor on the water, this is definitely the option for you. And of course, there are also endless options for the avid fisherman- from livewells to fishfinders, angler chairs to rod holders, and even on-board barbeques and vinyl flooring, Manitou definitely has you covered.

And of course, being that Christmas is mere weeks away, for those of you looking for the perfect gift for your watersport fanatic friends, we’ve also got great Christmas specials on tons of O’Brien wakeboards, Phase 5 Surf Boards, tubes, lifejackets and more, check them out at any of our showrooms today!

We are all looking forward to the New Year and are excited to be your Saskatoon Martin Motor Sports sales and support staff. Happy Holidays!

2012 Manitou Pontoons 20 Oasis Angler Series

Sharing The Versatility of a Family Fishing Boat

For over 25 years Manitou has listened to its customers and designed boats to suit a diverse set of needs. The Oasis Angler is one such boat, designed for the whole family including a convenient new rear entry gate for swimmers and an optional Lowrance X4Pro fishfinder for those more inclined to put a line in the water. How fun is that?

Tech Tip Of The Month:
Snowmobile Maintenance Tips for Holiday Riding!
My wife asked me last night "Honey what would you like for Christmas?". My response, "SNOW!" I mean come on, it's almost winter, if I wanted tropical weather I'd go to Hawaii. Us Canadians need to get our sled on. Well I guess while we are praying to the snow gods, it wouldn't hurt to do a little preventative maintenance.

For those of you with the luxury of electric start, you should make sure that your battery has a good solid charge on it. And no that does not mean hook it up to your car with booster cables and put the pedal to the floor. The best thing is to bring it back slowly, a trickle charger works best in this situation. A lot of chargers nowadays are pretty advanced and have an automatic shut off feature so you don't have to sit by it anymore to make sure it doesn't boil over. BONUS, more time to polish up the sled.

Before riding 30 miles up the trail searching for that perfect hill to climb something to look for is excessive wear on your belt. If you notice that a cord is starting to pull or you've noticed a couple of glazed spots, you should probably get that swapped out. What can cause this is dirt and grime building up in the clutches, so let one of our expert technicians clean those clutches for you so you're not spending a small fortune on belts.

Another thing you will want to look at before hammering on the throttle is your track tension and alignment. A sloppy track will prohibit maximum performance, and we all know we want to get the most out of our machines. As there are so many different types of machines, there are also many different specifications. Consult your owners manual for your sled's adjustment specs.

Chaincase oil seems to be the number one neglected thing this year. Take a look at yours, you may have had it done last year and hardly put any miles on, but if it looks like sludge, it's time to change it. Storage conditions can have an effect on the breakdown of your chaincase oil, and believe me when I say you will want to keep those gears and chain well lubricated. It's such a simple thing to do and it can save a lot of money.

Second on the list for being neglected this year is carbides. It's pretty easy to forget about these, being UNDER the skis and all but can be very costly if left unnoticed for too long. We are seeing a lot of sleds come in where people have worn the carbides completely off and have started to wear through their actual skis. Grab a buddy, tip the sled over and take a gander at them, what's a few seconds to save a few hundred dollars?

If you aren't comfortable doing these things on your own, or frankly just don't have the time, bring your sled to Martin Motor Sports and we will happily do it for you. Well that's enough for now, time to get back to praying for that white fluffy stuff.
