Hello!
My
name
is
Courtney
Klapwijk
and
Spyder
is
my
passion!
Usually
at
this
time
of
year
I’m
out
enjoying
my
sled
and
waiting
for
the
streets
to
dry
up,
but
this
has
been
an
unusual
winter.
My
riding
buddy,
“Spyder”
Ian
and
I
went
for
a
nice
tour
this
past
Sunday
(Jan
8),
and
even
in
the
+8
sunshine
the
RT’s
hand
warmers
and
big
windshield
were
great
features
to
have!
Hard
to
believe
that
this
is
already
the
5th
model
year
for
Spyder!
This
year
sees
Can-Am
refine
the
handling,
add
some
fantastic
color
options
and
improve
on
some
of
the
already
great
features,
including
the
multi
function
display
which
has
been
changed
to
an
amber
color
to
increase
contrast
for
night
riding.
Standard
on
all
models
since
2008
are
proven
safety
features
including
Traction
Control,
Stability
Control,
ABS
brakes,
Power
Steering
and
the
D.E.S.S
security
system.
BRP
worked
with
Bosch
to
design
the
stability
and
traction
control
which
incorporates
6
sensors
monitored
25
times
per
second
to
quickly
react
and
help
the
rider
stay
out
of
trouble.
The
3
wheel
stance,
which
is
inherently
stable,
combined
with
the
comprehensive
list
of
safety
features
enables
all
riders
from
novice
to
experienced
to
feel
comfortable
and
safe
almost
immediately.
BRP
is
known
for
innovation,
and
true-to-form,
another
ground-breaking
feature
which
exponentially
increases
ease
of
riding
is
the
available
SE5
or
Semi-Automatic
transmission
which
is
like
the
paddle
shift
on
a
car.
One
touch
with
your
thumb
and
it
automatically
shifts
up
a
gear,
and
one
touch
with
your
index
finger
and
the
transmission
drops
a
gear.
The
Spyder
will
also
automatically
downshift
at
2500
RPM
so
you
don’t
have
to
when
coming
up
to
a
stop
sign
or
red
light.
The
Spyder
RS
(Roadster
Sport)
is
aimed
at
the
rider
who
is
looking
for
a
blend
of
performance
and
safety.
Its
eye
catching,
sporty
styling
hints
at
the
potential
waiting
with
the
twist
of
the
throttle.
With
a
998cc
Rotax
engine
producing
106
HP
and
0-60
MPH
in
4.5
seconds
the
RS
delivers
incredible
acceleration,
handling
in
corners
that
comes
close
to
a
sport
bike
and
a
beautiful
exhaust
sound
from
the
big
V-twin!
It’s
tough
not
to
smile
when
rolling
on
the
throttle
coming
out
of
a
corner!
For
2012
the
RS
is
available
in
a
brilliant
Pearl
White
with
black
accents
or
the
sexy
new
Steel
Black
Metallic.
In
the
RS-S
package
there
are
two
new
colour
choices,
Neutron
Green
Metallic/Black
and
Can-Am
Red/Black,
and
carried
over
from
last
year
is
the
popular
Pure
Magnesium
Metallic/Black
colour
combination.
The
RS-S
is
the
upgraded
sport
model
with
Fox
Podium
Racing
Shocks,
two
tone
paint,
custom
seat,
carbon
black
aluminum
parts
and
black
dual
spoke
wheels.
For
true
luxury
riding
there
is
nothing
like
the
Spyder
RT
(Roadster
Touring).
The
RT
has
several
trim
levels
with
options
not
available
on
a
traditional
motorcycle.
With
155
liters
of
storage
there
is
ample
room
to
put
rain
gear,
extra
clothes,
water,
and
anything
else
your
friends
on
two
wheels
can’t
carry
on
their
bike!
The
2012
Spyder
RT
lineup
has
added
a
couple
of
gorgeous
colour
options
including
a
new
lighter
blue
called
Quantum
Blue
Metallic
and
the
exclusive
RT
Limited
color,
Lava
Bronze
Metallic,
which
is
a
very
rich
dark
brown.
The
Spyder
RT
is
packed
with
luxury
features
including
stereo
with
iPod
connection,
cruise
control,
hand
warmers,
power
windshield,
ultra
comfort
touring
seat,
and
an
available
on-board
air
compressor
so
that
you
can
adjust
the
air
ride
suspension
while
driving!
Can-Am
has
a
full
line
of
accessories
available
from
riding
gear,
chrome
parts,
communication
systems
and
removable
storage
bags.
For
a
longer
adventure,
or
if
you
don’t
like
to
pack
light,
BRP
offers
the
only
factory
trailer
with
a
whopping
622
liters
of
storage!
To
put
it
in
perspective
there
is
enough
room
for
two
sets
of
golf
clubs
and
two
medium
sized
suitcases!
I
would
like
to
invite
everyone
to
come
down
and
visit
us
at
the
Edmonton

the

Simmons
Skis! |
| |
|
|
When
Simmons
first
developed
the
original
Flexi-Ski,
it
basically
fit
a
criterion
for
snowmobiling
that
had
not
yet
been
met.
It
added
flotation,
absolutely
tracked
true
down
the
trail
and
cornered
like
you
were
riding
on
rails.
The
ski
is
designed
to
flex
through
bumps
and
ruts,
absorbing
the
shock
normally
taken
by
your
arms
and
legs.
The
bottom
of
the
ski
has
a
wear
bar
on
each
side
allowing
the
ski
to
carve
its
own
path,
eliminating
darting.
The
design
of
snowmobiles
evolved.
Engines
became
bigger
and
more
powerful…and
as
a
result,
sleds
became
heavier.
There
was
less
floatation
in
the
deep
powder
snow
because
the
sled’s
weight
made
you
sink.
As
an
answer
to
this
problem,
Simmons
developed
the
Gen
II.
At
10
inches
wide
and
still
incorporating
the
patented
Flexi-Ski
design,
the
Gen
II
was
an
amazing
stable
platform
offering
the
ultimate
in
flotation.
The
snowmobile
industry
also
answered
the
heaviness
issue.
Sleds
became
more
“rider
position
forward,”
meaning
more
weight
over
the
skis.
There
is
an
effort
to
make
all
sleds
lighter
now,
and
Simmons
could
see
a
need
for
a
ski
in-between
the
original
and
the
Gen
II.
And
thus,
the
8
inch
wide
Gen
III
Flexi-Ski
was
developed
and
thoroughly
tested
to
generate
an
amazing
riding
experience,
where
you’ll
find
remarkable
control
while
side-hilling
and
sharper,
easier
turning.
These
industry
leading
skis
are
in-stock
and
available
at
both
our
West
and
South
Edmonton
locations!

details.

On-Road
Maintenance! |
| |
|
|
Alright
this
month
we
are
talking
Spyders.
No
I
don’t
mean
the
creepy
crawly
eight
legged
arachnids,
I’m
talking
about
the
SLEEK,
SEXY,
THREE
WHEELED
SPEED
MACHINES
by
BRP.
I
know
what
you
are
thinking,
“it’s
the
middle
of
winter,
why
would
we
talk
about
motorcycle
maintenance?”
I
don’t
know
about
you,
but
when
I
look
outside
and
see
no
snow,
I
want
to
hop
on
one
and
go
for
a
ride.
The
first
thing
you
are
probably
thinking
is,
“are
you
crazy,
it’s
-20
outside?”
That’s
no
big
deal,
bring
that
unit
in
and
we
will
gladly
wire
in
a
plug
for
your
heated
vest
to
keep
you
toasty
warm
on
those
chilly
rides
even
in
the
fall.
If
you
choose
not
to
ride
in
the
cold
and
you
have
your
toy
tucked
away
for
the
winter
months
here
are
some
recommendations
to
ensure
that
you
have
no
troubles
come
springtime
when
you
want
to
get
back
on
it
and
go.
Batteries
require
maintenance
when
sitting
for
long
periods
of
time.
It’s
recommended
to
put
a
slow
trickle
charge
on
it
every
three
weeks
to
a
month.
Back
in
the
day,
you
used
to
have
to
go
through
the
hassle
of
pulling
your
battery
out
and
taking
it
in
to
get
charged,
nowadays
there
are
chargers
that
you
can
basically
hardwire
to
your
battery
and
plug
and
play
when
you
need
it.
Tire
pressure
is
very
important
when
it
comes
to
sitting
for
extended
periods
of
time.
Make
sure
your
tire
pressures
are
up
to
spec
and
I
would
recommend
putting
some
cardboard
or
carpet
under
the
tires
to
keep
them
off
the
cold
concrete.
Low
tire
pressures
+
Cold
concrete
=
Flat
spots.
Wheel
alignment
is
extremely
critical
when
you
are
flying
through
those
sweepers
at
Mach
1
on
your
dream
machine.
Bring
it
in
and
we
will
make
sure
that
those
fancy
rims
are
pointing
true.
Proper
wheel
alignment
also
ensures
even
wear
on
the
treads
of
the
tires,
resulting
in
longer
lasting
life.
That
precious
fuel
that
we
are
all
paying
ridiculous
amounts
for
nowadays
can
go
bad
due
to
moisture.
Spend
the
few
dollars
for
a
bottle
of
fuel
stabilizer
and
keep
it
fresh
for
that
long
awaited
ride
to
come.
It
doesn’t
take
a
lot
to
save
a
lot.
Oil
change!
If
you
haven’t
done
so
already,
make
sure
you
do
it
before
you
go
for
a
ride
come
springtime.
Oil
is
as
essential
to
an
engine’s
life
as
water
is
to
a
human.
Preventative
maintenance
is
much
more
cost
effective
than
the
outcome.
If
you
are
like
me,
and
find
that
drivers
on
the
road
seem
to
think
you
are
invisible,
make
it
known
that
you
are
there
with
the
GROWL
of
an
exhaust
by
Can-Am/Hindle.
The
nice
rumble
at
cruising
speeds
will
let
those
drivers
know
that
there
is
something
around
them
that
means
business.
Everyone
seems
to
be
going
with
the
bright
HID
headlights
for
their
vehicles
nowadays
for
better
visibility.
Great
news
for
you
Spyder
owners,
you
can
get
them
too
and
really
light
up
your
path
of
terror,
allowing
you
to
ride
24hrs
a
day
with
no
worries
of
it
ever
being
too
dark
to
see.
If
you
are
rocking
the
sport
model
Spyder
but
find
you
need
some
extra
carrying
ability
without
trading
in
for
the
RT
model,
there
are
a
magnitude
of
options
for
you.
There
are
side
saddlebags
that
you
can
add
on
as
well
as
rear
rack
bags,
or
even
a
tank
bag
if
it
suits
your
fancy.
So
let
the
countdown
begin
until
the
balmy
temperatures
return
so
we
can
all
get
back
out
on
the
streets
and
rule
them!
