*H-D RELEASED RIDERS FROM SCREAMIN' EAGLE RACING PROGRAM. On December 1, 2006 riders GT Tonglet and Rich King were released from their contracts. King recently completed his seventh season with the team. His career-best was second in AMA points in 2001. Tonglet's career-best was second in NHRA points in 2005. Racing manager Anne Paluso said that both men, "...helped these programs become more competitive and dynamic and they will always be part of the H-D family because of that."

*HONDA INTRODUCES WORLD'S FIRST EPS (Electric Power Steering) SYSTEM FOR ATV'S. As equipped on the 2007 Foreman 500 4x4, this latest EPS iteration employs Honda's cutting-edge technology to minimize size and weight-important considerations for ATV design-while simultaneously taking advantage of today's processing power and Honda engineering to custom-tailor the application to a workhorse ATV. The EPS system monitors steering torque and vehicle speed to adjust the levels of steering assist and feel. When stopped or at low speeds, it provides more assistance for a light steering effort. As speed increases, the amount of assistance is reduced to provide the appropriate level of feedback. Perhaps the most significant benefit is the system's ability to provide light and consistent steering feel in both 2WD and 4WD operation. As a secondary benefit, the EPS system acts like a steering damper to greatly reduce undesirable kickback through the handlebars in rough or rocky terrain.

YAMAHA'S R6 TAKES SECOND PLACE IN THE INTERNATIONAL BIKE OF THE YEAR COMPETITION. Fifteen of the world's leading motorcycle publications convened and voted on the best of the best in the world of two wheels. The slick, fast and sexy R6 impressed the judges considerably. The only bike in the world that managed to overshadow Yamaha's sport bike gem was the Triumph Daytona 675 - the first place winner. Once again, Yamaha proves that it can hold its own in a competitive world market.

MOTORCLOTHES TIPS

While the snowy, cold weather might have kept you inside lately, it has reminded us more than ever what a difference a good leather jacket can make when surviving the elements outside. The quality of your jacket is key to how well it works for you. Here are three important features to shop for when you buy a new leather.

Drum Dyed Leather: This top quality leather is dyed before construction of the garment and is dyed through the hide from top to bottom. If you were to cut a piece open, it would be the same color from the outside through the inside. Some lesser quality leather products do not use this process and the leather will bleed when wet or the color will fade quickly against abrasion or sunlight.

Action Back and Power Stretch: Jackets with an Action Back have extra material and a unique construction that allows greater mobility and added comfort across your back and shoulders. It makes reaching for the handle bars a whole lot more pleasant. Similar in function, Power Stretch is a flexible construction built commonly into the sides, underarms, and waist of many jackets which reduces stress on joints so arms don’t get tired, and provides mobility for a more comfortable fit- and most importantly- a more comfortable ride!

Two-Way Zipper: While it seems simplistic, being able to zip up your jacket and then zip up the bottom zipper to allow sitting with ease makes all the difference when your jacket is bunching up under your neck. Try one on today and check out the difference!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or stop in and the MotorClothes staff here at Greeley would be happy to help! And remember…All through the month of January take $50 off any regularly priced leather jacket!

SERVICE TIPS

We now have a state-of-the-art Dynometer in our service department. What does that mean to you? A lot! You don’t have to a gear-head or a horsepower junkie for a Dyno run to be beneficial. Here are three reasons why it is an excellent idea to put your bike through a Dyno run so we can determine its performance level.

1. Your machine may seem like it purrs down the highway, but in reality there may be some glitches that you don’t notice or can’t feel. With a simple Dyno test we can see hidden performance issues and give you pointers on how to correct them to make sure your bike is performing perfectly.

2. There are many types of Dyno tests available to us so we can easily pinpoint powertrain defects in a matter of minutes. Everything from a misadjusted drive belt to an out of balance tire will show up on our Dyno charts.

3. Last but not least, the Dyno test gives us a reference of how your bike runs. Everything on your bike might be perfect at test time, but it won’t always stay that way. If a problem arises in the future, we will have a record of how your bike is capable of performing. Then if problems arise, we will know specifically how to address the issue of your personal machine.
