SERVICE TECH TIP

Checking and setting tire pressure is one of the most important maintenance tasks to perform. Its one of the easiest tasks and also, one that is very often neglected. As a technician, I see this all to often yet rider and passenger safety depend on proper tire inflation.

The tire pressure is supporting the entire load of the motorcycle, passengers and stored items. Only a small portion of the tire called the contact patch is ever touching the road surface at any given time.

Over inflation can reduce this contact area while under inflation generates uneven contact pressure and support. For every 4-psi of tire pressure lost, an additional 60 to 70 lbs of load carrying capacity is lost, not to mention miles of useful tire life.

The over flexing of an under inflated tire can cause non-visible damage to the tires structure, which could lead to unexpected and sudden blowouts.

Proper vehicle handling and stability is dependent on correct tire pressure, especially when the bike is at or near max load.

So, remember to check and adjust tire pressure regularly, when traveling check tires every day. Visually inspect tires for problems like dry rot, blistering or unusual wear. Avoid uneven or excessive loads and applying cleaners or protectorants as they may degrade the rubber or remove the resistance to weather cracking or ozone built in by the manufacturer.

2007 Harley-Davidson® FXDB Dyna™ Street Bob®
$13,595.00
THIS IS PURE, DISTILLED BADASS AT ITS BARE-KNUCKLE BEST.

At first glance this looks like an old-schooler with nothing to lose. A blast back to when folks looking to boost miles per hour stripped off or "bobbed" the shiny parts to make the motorcycle lighter. But the Street Bob™ takes it a step further. This is pure, distilled badass at its bare-knuckle best. A lip-snarled attitude wrapped around a new black powder-coated Twin Cam 96™ engine with a six-speed Cruise Drive™ transmission. Chrome, laced wheels. Factory ape-hangers. 4.7 gallons of Fat Bob™ tank to get you out of Dodge. A solo seat. Because relationships can be complicated. The Street Bob™. Two wheels, a motor, a seat and handlebar. Just the way the purists like it.
