SO
YOU
WANT
TO
BUY
A
BIKE!
By
Ryan
Smith,
Business
Manager |
| Motorcycle
ownership
is
one
of
the
most
liberating
experiences
in
life.
Having
the
ability
to
get
on
your
bike
and
escape
the
pressures
of
everyday
life
is
a
privilege
that
can
bring
you
a
tremendous
amount
of
satisfaction
and
inner
peace.
|
Deciding
where
and
how
you
want
to
ride
are
big
factors
when
deciding
what
bike
to
get.
Start
with
these
5
important
questions:
1.
Who
will
I
be
riding
with?
Are
you
riding
two-up
(with
a
passenger)
or
solo?
There
are
many
bikes
that
will
allow
you
to
do
both,
and
most
bikes
can
be
equipped
with
accessories
that
make
them
passenger
friendly.
Today’s
quick
detach
accessory
technology
allows
riders
to
add
and
remove
passenger
friendly
items
like
backrests,
tourpaks
and
seats
with
ease
so
that
you
can
accommodate
a
passenger
comfortably
without
permanently
determining
the
look
of
your
bike.
2.
What
kind
of
riding
will
you
be
doing?
Are
you
just
riding
around
town?
A
cruiser
may
be
the
bike
for
you.
Are
you
going
on
weekend
and
longer
trips?
A
touring
bike
is
probably
the
answer.
The
kind
of
riding
you
plan
on
doing
has
a
lot
to
do
with
the
kind
of
bike
you
want
to
ride.
There
are
a
few
bikes
that
are
built
for
versatility
for
those
who
enjoy
more
than
one
riding
style.
3.
When
do
you
plan
on
entering
the
sport
of
motorcycling?
When
do
you
plan
on
riding?
Are
you
going
to
be
a
summer
only
rider,
or
do
you
plan
on
making
a
bike
your
main
mode
of
transportation?
People
often
ask,
“When
is
a
good
time
to
buy
a
bike”?
The
answer
is
always
NOW!!
Every
day
that
you
don’t
have
a
motorcycle
is
another
day
without
fulfilling
your
dream.
If
you
want
to
ride
all
year,
there
are
bikes
that
offer
more
wind
protection
and
all
bikes
can
be
fitted
with
weather
specific
accessories.
4.
Where
do
you
plan
on
riding
the
most?
In
recent
years
fuel
injection
has
allowed
riders
of
all
skill
levels
to
head
to
the
hills
and
ride
at
all
altitudes.
Fuel
injection
offers
a
self-adjusting
system
that
can
account
for
altitude
without
manual
adjustments.
Some
motor
companies
have
made
a
commitment
to
building
fuel-injected
models
only,
while
others
are
sure
to
follow.
Double
check
in
the
meantime.
5.
How
do
you
plan
on
making
the
purchase?
Do
you
need
rider
training?
Do
you
want
to
test
ride
a
few
bikes
before
you
make
a
decision?
A
lot
of
people
are
under
the
impression
that
you
need
cash
to
buy
a
bike.
NOT
TRUE!
Motorcycle
financing
is
readily
available
for
all
types
of
buyers.
Rider
training
is
also
available
for
riders
with
no
experience
necessary.
Attaining
your
motorcycle
license
is
fun
and
easy
when
done
in
a
top-notch
course.
Test
rides
are
also
encouraged
for
those
who
have
already
attained
their
motorcycle
license.
The
best
way
to
get
answers
to
these
questions
is
to
go
see

*HARLEY-DAVIDSON
XL
1200N
NIGHTSTER
ROCKS
ON
THE
ROAD
Harley-Davidson
Sportster
motorcycles
get
a
burst
of
adrenaline
with
the
launch
of
the
new
XL
1200N
Nightster.
With
a
wicked
combination
of
exceptional
performance,
unique
design
and
a
low
seat
height,
the
Nightster
has
a
gritty,
urban
feel
offering
a
sharp
ride
for
the
street.
The
new
Sportster
model
was
announced
Monday,
January
29,
2007
at
the
Harley-Davidson
Winter
Dealer
Meeting
in
Orlando,
Fla.
Blending
a
low
seat
height
and
mid-mount
controls
with
the
powerful
torque
of
the
rubber-mounted
Evolution
V-Twin
engine,
the
XL
1200N
Nightster
adds
another
exciting
option
to
the
Sportster
family.
“The
XL
1200N
Nightster
is
a
blacked-out
street
bike
that
continues
a
half
century
of
Sportster
tradition
of
innovative,
fun
and
versatile
motorcycles,”
said
Bill
Davidson,
Harley-Davidson
Director
of
Motorcycle
Product
Development.
“With
loads
of
truly
select
features
and
components,
the
Nightster
takes
all
the
enhancements
made
to
the
Sportster
family
in
recent
years
to
an
entirely
different
level.”

SHADOW
SPIRIT
750
C2-HONDA'S
NEXT-GENERATION
HOT-ROD
CRUISER
In
the
case
of
Honda's
Shadow
Spirit
750-the
best-selling
custom
in
the
company's
lineup
with
a
heritage
that
reaches
all
the
way
back
to
1983-some
might
speculate
that
it's
best
to
leave
well
enough
alone,
but
that
would
not
be
the
Honda
way.
In
the
same
manner
that
Honda
has
taken
the
flagship
Gold
Wing
to
a
new
level
of
sophistication
with
each
subsequent
introduction,
the
2007
Shadow
Spirit
750
C2
has
a
whole
new
attitude.
And
it's
better
than
ever.
The
engineering
team's
three-fold
goal
was
to
make
the
new
Shadow
Spirit
750
look
longer
and
lower
like
a
larger-displacement
machine,
without
sacrificing
the
friendly
ergonomics
and
ease
of
handling
that
appeal
to
so
many
first-time
and
reentry
riders.
To
accomplish
this,
the
bike
was
fitted
with
a
new
single-backbone
frame
first
introduced
on
the
Aero.
This
produces
a
wheelbase
that
is
more
than
an
inch
longer
(65.0
vs.
63.8)
while
simultaneously
stretching
the
ergonomic
envelope
to
accommodate
physically
larger
riders.
Smaller
riders
were
not
ignored,
however,
as
the
rider
triangle
between
the
seat,
handlebar
and
footpegs
was
kept
as
close
to
the
previous
model
as
possible.

| PARTS
TIPS |
| By:
Donna
Spencer,
Parts
Expert |

Hi
everyone!
Well,
it
looks
like
winter-time
is
truly
upon
us.
Most
of
us
are
used
to
riding
all
year
long,
but
not-so
this
year.
So,
our
bike
batteries
are
not
getting
or
keeping
a
charge
in
that
cold
garage!
To
help
keep
them
charged
I
recommend
that
you
invest
in
a
Battery
Tender.
The
price
starts
at
$40
whereas
the
price
of
a
new
battery
starts
at
$100.
It's
easy
to
use.
All
you
have
to
do
is
put
on
the
battery
harness
and
hook
it
up
to
the
battery
tender.
It
will
ensure
that
the
battery
is
charged
and
then
switch
to
'storage
mode'.
Then,
when
you
are
ready
for
that
long-awaited
ride
all
you
have
to
do
in
unplug
it
and
go!
Be
safe
and
enjoy
your
ride!
P.S.(Dunlop
Tire
is
on
strike
so
this
might
be
a
good
time
to
replace
those
old
tires!) |
