Service Questions & Answers!! Q: Why does my fuel injectced Harley seem to blow some black smoke after I start it? A: Basically, a fuel injected bike goes through almost the same process as what you do on a carbureted bike. On a Delphi fuel injected Harley it starts out with a 15% enrichment (choke). This last for about five minutes of running. It aids the warm up process, so every time the bike is shut off this process is repeated again. " Black soot" in the exhaust is normal, but is often misinterpreted as a rich running condition. |
